Agreed. When my skis were stolen I went on ebay like a week later and found the exact skis with the same bindings 20mins away from my local

This is so acurate. Most days ill carry all my friends skis up from the lot while they are getting ready( I get my stuff on before getting picked up) Every time i get weird looks or a guy ask me if i had stolen them

This reminds me of the time I was driving to Canada with my Brother to go mountain biking. We were meeting my Dad up there and I had all our bikes on our car including my Dad's. The Canadian border guard gave us so much shit for having an extra bike and asked us questions for over 10 min on why we had it, whose bike it was, why we had an extra one, when and where are we meeting my Dad, why didnt he bring his own bike up etc. It was kind of weird to be grilled over a bike but I guess in Washington there is a problem with people stealing high end mtn bikes and taking them across the border to sell.

My brother and I were interrogated at Targhee by a shop employee when we asked for a screwdriver to swap each other skis for the last half of the day. They were positive we had snagged a random pair of JJs from the rack and needed to adjust them to our boots haha.

This might be the hardest interrogation given out by Canadian border patrol ever. One time I was going up there to drink underage and we stopped and asked the border guard where to go in Van, and then we ran into the guy that night out at the bar, so we bought a round of shots and took one with the border guard, it was amazing.

One time my friend wanted to try my skis so I told him as long as I can try his. So I set my binding to his boots. He said he didnt want to have to deal with changing his bindings so I sat and wathched him try my skis. When he was done the binding clip was frozen and I was struggling with it for a while and he didnt help.

Having skis stolen is one thing....and then having the mtn resort host at the base area (next to a public road) where your skis were stolen from tell you theres a blindspot for the cameras where your skis were and that there isnt much they could do for you is defeating.

Still wondering who has my not-so-brand-new anymore 2018 Devastators with white Pivot18s, I hope they blew their knee on them

I'm so paranoid about losing skis that I always try to sit and eat within eyesight of them. My friends think I'm paranoid but I try to never let em out of my sight once they leave the car

I had a guy steal my brand new kincos. After searching for a while I set up camp by the chalet door and eventually saw a guy stuffing brand new kincos in his pockets before he went into the chalet. I went up to him and asked if he had kinco gloves. He said he didn’t, I then asked why he just shoved kincos in his pockets and he took them out and threw them at me.

My dads college roommate was a fucking ass. He would go up to vail from Denver, and come back with 4 pairs of skis every weekend.

The real shit is the dudes family was rich asf, and he got caught once but just bailed him out.

Gloves are something I don’t think about, but my mom got some kincos, she set them out by the helmet rack to pee, came back and they were gone. Luckily the chick was a dumbass and flaunted them to her friends after stealing them

hey man it’s all one big community. U take skis to the hill and leave with other skis it’s no big deal. Skis can’t be “owned” by one person. We’re all just trying to get by on this big blue marble.

this year I must have skied on about 40 different pairs. I’ll take some from Sunday River and the swap them out at Big Bear for some powder boards to take to Baker.

My sister bought brand new line skis this year and someone "accidentally took them" because they're black and looked like his. Anyways she found the guy and he returned them but its just mind blowing that someone would either not pay enough attention or purposely take someone's gear, just crazy to me.

I always separate my skis on different racks on the way to wherever I'm going. It's simple and no one wants to steal just one ski. It seems like it would be more like a crime of opportunity.

Bike + ski thieves deserve to have their legs broken.

so in dante's inferno thieves are hella low in the rings, 8th circle (9th being the worst). They're surrounded by snakes (other thieves) and when they get bitten by the snakes they burst into flames and the snake becomes a human and vice versa til they get bitten again

My friend who boards got his board stolen for like 2 hours once and this is what we assumed happened.

Man went to resort and thought the boards on the racks you just picked from so he grabbed it and went out, we found it randomly on another rack.

we guessed it was that or the guy noticed how clapped his board was and decided naw

Vibes man that sucks, 6 years ago or yesterday having something stolen from you is personal and ski gear is next level, and for another skier to steal ski gear, that’s downright disgusting, like honor amongst thieves, skiers, well most of us know what a treasure gear is and would never do that to another, we’re all kin in this sport

At my ski hill a few years a go. Threw dude just grabbed like 10 boards and 6 pairs of skis and they just bounced. But they decided to take a turn off the main road and for stuck and for some reason asked a cop to help get them out.. dumb fuckers got busted.

Thieves are the worst absolutely the worst.

I left my dps skis on a ski rack for hr at the lodge, unlocked. They were still there when I got back.

Some guy at my local mountain stole my poles while I ate lunch. I thought I had misplaced them and when I went to throw my trash out he was getting on the lift with my poles. I was like 10 and this dude was probably 17 so they were like the size of his forearm😐 when I asked him why he stole my poles, his response was just “I don’t know, I just wanted them.” Handed them back and got on the lift. Weird guy who looking back was probably stoned or drunk or both

One time i got my poles stolen off a rack, about 2 months later I see some little kid walking out of the lodge with my poles in his hand (knew they were mine casue the graphic was cut off as I had cut them to size) I asked him where he got them kindly since he was little, he said that some guy had given them to him. I explained that they were mine and he gave them back and apologized. If your kid isnt like this please do not let him near me lol

I would be equally pissed about my poles being stolen as I would my skis even though I bought them at a thrift store.

Had fun times in my first time multipitch climbing with my gf when i realized the third anchor was stolen. Some people are willing to put lives at risk for a couple dollars in metal i guess.
