Current Tecnica Cochise walk mode issues

I could get a good deal on 19/20 Tecnica Cochise Pro 130 for 450 euros including full boot fitting. I walked around the store with them and the bootfitter said he could definitely make them work on my wide foot.
I know that the 21/22 Cochise 130 is getting the sturdy external walk mode switch, which I would love even if just for the peace of mind, but it would probably be at least 200 euros more next fall.
I read about the walk mode issues that some people had with the current Cochises. Sometimes the walk mode won't switch back to ski mode, if light snow has made it inside the mechanism. More alarmingly, some people reported that when bending the boot, it popped from ski mode to walk mode on its own. I could live with the fact that sometimes it would be hard to get it back to ski mode, but I do not want to worry about my boots switching to walk mode on their own while skiing in tough or dangerous spots. Someone somewhere mentioned that this self-switching happened only in the first production year 16/17 of the current model due to over-tightening of the spring or a screw or something like that, and it has since been fixed, leaving only the issue with snow getting in the mechanism.
Has anyone skied any of the newer than 16/17 year models and had the boot pop from ski mode to walk mode on their own?

I have the 17/18 year and very randomly, one of the boots will pop from ski mode to walk mode by itself. Bringing the cuff back to upright will pop it back into ski mode. Sometimes it will pop right back though. It doesn't happen often at all but it is a little surprising to have your boot buckle on you if you're pushing it hard. This started happening in the past year or two so I assume some part of the mechanism is getting worn out.
I noticed it tends to happen more in warmer temps for some reason. Does it bother me? Yes. Enough to buy new boots? No. Would I buy the same boots again? Probably. Have I taken them to a boot guy to have them look at it? Not yet.
If I were to buy new boots, I would spring for the 130s with the beefier mechanism.

Thanks for the info! I might have to wait for the next year's model and pay the full price. Hopefully the fit of the next year's model isn't too different from the old one.

I would wait for the next year. I've broken two walk modes on the cochise (17/18 and 18/19) And the current pair I have do randomly fail to go back into ski mode from time to time. I can vouch for their warranty program tho. I bought one pair and have gotten two new pairs out of them.

I've only really put mine to the test a handful of times this winter (One early season day of touring to get them "broken in", and then another legit touring day back in February for an avy course). Did not experience those issues, however I did experiece some toepiece malfunction on my kingpins....Was skinning up and the ski popped off, but it is what it is. Rather have that happen on a shitty skin track early season at a resort vs. doing something more legit.
Honestly I bought mine for when my Mach1's start to fall apart entirely and I can just take the same size boot being a Cochise in to get worked on to transition over to those boots full-time, and still have a boot that I can go tour on sometimes and ski at the resort mostly. I appreciate the heads-up about the walk/ski mode because mine was having some issues. Will keep an eye on it.
