zuesLol i get banned from this forum every fucking week. You really think I'd be afraid to ask two dumb white chicks that question? You guys might be dumber than I thought.
Oh yea people lose their life. You know whats not that difficult? Complying with law enforcement even if you've done nothing wrong. We've all been stopped by cops. But only the dumb ones try to run or drive away.
I think later today i'll break into stores and steal shit. Then maybe burn my city down.
Why do I never hear about all these white people dying from cops? That's odd how there's more than double that of any other race ... somehow it's just never on the news?? I'm sure the media has your best intentions in mind.
lol because your argument is garbage dude. Typical response. You're talking about a 0.0001% chance of dying by police from getting pulled over. I have a better chance of getting killed in a car accident than by a cop.
You're just a dumbass fearmongering media watcher.
snowfinderyou're a black hole, once you enter a thread everything gets sucked in to dealing with you. Bye.

I agree with you that the media pushes their own narrative in accordance with popular woke politics and cherry pick their stories to fit it. That also doesn't mean the problem isn't valid though.
I'm still mad about cops killing lots of citizens here? I don't like having a poorly trained militarized police force that doesn't get held accountable.
I'd be curious to know where people are being shot. This is all speculation on my part, but I would imagine the incidence of a police officer firing a gun in Detroit is much higher than in small white town in the middle of nowhere based on crime rate alone. I do remember reading a statistic that the average police officer fire his gun once every 26 years and the average police officer works 25, so most police officers never fire their gun in the line of duty.
I knew a guy.... my daddy... who, back in the 80's, was arrested for disorderly conduct. What did he do?
He was standing 20' away from cop and when he watched a cop smash a women's face into the sidewalk and crack her skill for not complying because she was drunk at a concert that my father was managing, he yelled over to the cop and told him to "calm down."
The cop then arrested my father, slammed him to the sidewalk and broke his finger and lied to the court and said my father had put his hands on the cop which is 100% a lie.
The charge was this: give us a lot of money and fees to the court and police based on a lie and your free... if not... ahhhhhh, we'll jail you.
The entire ordeal was a prideful cop that made up a lie and used his power to extort money from my father for the magistrate courts.
Now, if this EVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE there is an easy way to get out of this and not pay a dime IF YOUR INNOCENT. Again, IF YOU ARE INNOCENT! If not, then you reap what you sow.
My father was a pussy and had anxiety, so he never showed up to court and paid the fine that he was innocent of—amounted to well over 1000 dollars—which went on his record, which was a lie.
First, the evidence... was there evidence against my father? No, only hearsay by the lying cop. In fact, there was evidence in favor of my father because of the many witnesses that saw what happened. No video or recoding of the ordeal. But even if there was evidence in his favor it is better not to contract with court at all.
Should my father have gone to court? Yes, but only to refuse a contract!
Because he was innocent and because the officer had no evidence other than hearsay and because the charge was merely extortion (debt collection), my father didn't have to pay anything. If he had refused to go to court to refuse to contract, a warrant would have been sent out for his arrest.
What one has to do is GO TO THE MAGISTRATE FAKE COURT (star chamber) and when the judge asks you anything, you refuse contract. "I am not obligated to nor do I accept contract with this magistrate." The "judge" then might ask "do you have a lawyer or do you want one to represent you", you say, "no," and repeat what you said above. Had you said yes that would have been a plea to contract with court.
Now the judge" asks, "do you represent yourself" you reapeat what you said above and refuse to contract. Then say: "lex misnomer."
As in, and they know what you mean, how can I represent myself when I'm standing here. What they are after is your corporate personhood. Simply refuse to contract and say you cannot represent yourself.
This will go on for sometime but eventually they will let you go and refuse court fees as well because you never made the contract.
This worked for many people I now but again only if they are innocent. If there is ambiguous physical evidence against you but you're innocent, refuse to contract in all courts, except supreme.

I think the general consensus is that Synchronicity was their best album but I personally think that Ghost in the Machine takes the top spot. Insanely ahead of its time, you can feel the dedication the band put into the album. Definitely some of Sting's best ever work.
r00kieCrazy thing is an honest officer only has to gain by wearing one. If they get into a tense situation were someone could make a claim against the officer but the officer handled it by the book their name is cleared right away. People make crazy claims all the time and I would be begging to have something like a cam to cover me all the time.
I know a defense lawyer and he actually said that the defense lawyers hate body cams because it records the defendant acting like an asshat, resisting or whatever and makes it harder to get him cleared in court. Especially when you build this case that he was a great guy in a bad situation etc for the jury then 30 seconds later they watch a first hand account of the guy being a drunk fuck off. Kind of an interesting perspective.
In any case, this is America and we have a shit ton budget for things like our military. 100% no excuse we cant have body cams on cops on every shift.

I didnt think I would be digging this video up today...
That guy is retarded. He should have refused contract IF HE WAS INNOCENT and didn't lay a hand on the officer but instead rants about internal company policy hur dur muh constitution rightz. Was all evidence based on hearsay? What were the charges, exactly? Meaning was it merely fines?
Problem in in those magistrates they do not follow the Constitution, so it is better you shut up and refuse contract, repeatedly. He should have asked for a supreme court trial, which is where you can use simple old law or the new deliberately convoluted legalese or make a contract with magistrate refusing contract in paper. The court would have dropped the charges Imm willing to bet.
Too bad school never taught us about contract law.

zueshow come the 99.99% of cops who do a good job don't ever get a "thank you". One cop who makes a mistake and everyone loses their fucking minds. The media literally wants you idiots to hate the people who keep you safe and divide the country further.
I was on Yale University the other day and two idiotic white chicks were holding up signs that said "Defund the Yale PD Now'
I asked who they'd call if they get raped and they said "We will police ourselves".
The logic these people have is profound.
Look man i accept that there are decent cops out there. But 99.99% is bullshit.
at least half the cops ive ever dealt with were bigger assholes than they had any right to be, and they loved their authority.
every single friend i have ever had has a story of a cop at some point treating them like shit and trying to fuck them over.
if it was 1 in 10,000 cops who was bad then nobody would ever hear stories about asshole cops. Yet asshole cop stories are everywhere.
id guess that 50% of american cops shouldnt be cops. Any cop that takes advantage of their authority, for whatever reason, doesnt deserve to be a cop. Cops and swat teams and dea and atf and fbi agents often shoot the suspects dog when they do their no knock raid bullshit. Even right wing libertarians like rand paul openly talk about the problem of american policing and he passed legislation to end no knock raids.
end the 35 iq war on drugs, decriminalize small amounts possession, and take the speed limits off of lonely straight highways.
do these things, and the kind of person who becomes a cop will be a much better person.
this country has had vigilante asshole cops ever since nixon started the war on drugs and cops started to trip on their ego to have the right to break down your door, shoot your dog, beat you up, trash your house searching for drugs, and tell you they have the authority to say what you are allowed to do in the privacy of your own home to nobody but yourself.
end the drug war and the 25-50% of current cops who are authority loving pieces of shit will either quit or kill themselves.
Charlie_KellyYeah pretty crazy how someone at McDonalds can make as much as someone in an EMS network.
Only reason I asked is because I see a lot of people calling for better training/education but also taking about defunding the police.
By defunding they mean getting rid of this kind of "policing" if it can even be called that. I heard an interview with someone that wants reform and not defunding but the media got ahold of defunding and it took off like wild fire.

Yepppp, I put in my resignation letter that it was insulting that the starting pay was less than a school bus driver....

Also, yeah this is what I mean. When do we actually need this? SWAT vans maybe, but gosh dang does a town of 200,000 really need a military grade hummer?? Isn’t that what the nations guard is for?

This is generally needed for rioters and looters that burn their own cities.
Jemsi don’t like the fact that it goes from a big mistake from a dumb fuck of a cop to wealthy white bitches telling me my white silence is violence
was this really race related? or was the cop that fucking stupid
you can’t compare someone getting chocked to death to someone i guess “accidentally” shooting someone
The only way race may play into the most recent case is him being stopped in the firat place. We know statistically poc are more likely to be stopped as officers are fishing so they target certain demographics. But yeah, the narrative that the officer woke up wanting to kill a black man is pretty stupid.

Being serious for once.
with all the events that have been taking place recently Do you really think cops are targeting minorities at this current time? I only ask because my friend who is a new cop told me they’re targeting young white men and women because of what’s going on in the news. They’ve been told to steer clear from traffic arrests as well. With the George Floyd case on every news
channel and the civil unrest going on you’d have to be a complete idiot to be targeting minorities at this current time

Yes. It is common for officers to be evaluated on arrest number. Therefore when do traffic stops they will target demographics who are more likely to have a warrent out, which only adds to the statistic, making the problem worse.

One thing I don't get about that though is how do you see what someone's race is if you're pulling someone over for something like speeding? I don't you'd see something like that until you're almost up to the window, and at that point its too late to stop. Now I do understand the point about racially targeted stop and frisk because you can actually see the person's race and there's literally the clip of Bloomberg telling officers to stop minorities and shit.

Or running registration. Like does your ID populate when you do that? I imagine not.

Windows. It's not difficult to see into a moving car when driving at city speeds. Also stereotypes of who drives what kind of cars. Subaru with bike racks on the roof is not likely to driven put someone who is not white. I hate to say something so generalized but thats what an officer may go by.

We need to get rid of qualified immunity. Getting fired isn't enough for acting this way. It's not that it's one bad egg. It's like if the company selling the eggs faces zero consequences when one of their eggs kills someone a few times a week, and the company responds with "what about all the good eggs we sell?"

Agreed, but this narrative is getting overblown too. The office is being charged with manslaughter 2 which should be a very open and shut case.
PeppermillRenoThere is no reason pigs should shoot someone for trying to get away they know who the person is and where they live.
Car chases should be illegal as well cops shouldn't endanger motorists just because they have egos and want to catch someone and beat them up.
Fully agree - their should be tiers to policing. Newer cops could be assigned to traffic duties/stops equipped with just a taser. Don't like being a cop without a gun? - Then dont fucking be a cop. If someone tries to resist or flee they could just record the license number for that person vehicle to be escalated. Then their could be higher levels that require more advanced training, experience, other requirements to be a cop with a gun who respond to crisis issue where things might escalate to a higher level.
Literally every kid I knew from high school who joined the force was a complete fucking moron who only did it because they realize too late they werent going to get into college and didnt want to get shipped overseas. It's insane to me that we just toss them out onto the streets with a gun an seemingly legal immunity.

Not going to lie, took a police test to see if I could get into the academy when I was between jobs one rough summer. It was clear the test wanted the answers to be everyone was guilty first then ask questions later. I didn't answer the questions in that manner so didn't pass the test.
They dont want cops out there thinking logically they want cops out there that only can follow orders and dont have a thought of their own. This might be why cops are always scared because when something surprises them they legit aren't ready for it. They dont know how to handle the situation because there is no one there to tell them what to do.
90% of the people taking test were young guys with shaved heads driving lifted trucks or pos cars. When I pulled in and saw the people taking the test it was a wtf moment, these are people we are going to allow power over others? I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog. After taking the test and seeing the other people there taking it as well I didn't any part of being a cop.
More likely the rest of the world has serious issues to deal with. Their media doesn't consistently feed their heads with fake narratives to stir up civil unrest.
guelah_papyrusHilarious that the rest of the world doesn't nearly seem to have as bad as a problem that we do
With how well funded our police forces are and how they supposedly exist for our safety, you'd think our communities would be a whole lot safer. I think this is classic America being reactionary and trying to band aid the problem rather than looking at the roots of issues. More crime must be solved with more police ya!
Defunding the police means appropriating those funds to community housing and uplift, emergency services, and more mental health services. Police escalate and with their public perception they always will outside a few empathetic officers. We ask too much of police currently especially considering the people who actually become cops like mentioned before in this thread. This really is a lukewarm take in my mind but somehow people think that cutting a police's budget will mean anarchy
r00kieAgreed, but this narrative is getting overblown too. The office is being charged with manslaughter 2 which should be a very open and shut case.
I agree. It shouldn't be a narrative, nor should it require someone getting the absolute shit beaten out of them/killed to have any repercussions on the officers end. Seems like there needs to be a major headline for anything to happen. I just want cops to be held just as accountable for their actions as regular citizens.
Kinda bullshit that in the states, you need a 50th the training to enforce the law as you do to actually uphold it in court. I get there is a ton of other stuff lawyers need to know, but there is so much blatant ignorance of the laws by cops that they're able to push the boundaries way further than anyone should be comfortable with.

Though I’d agree with you that these vehicles and military grade weapons probably aren’t necessary in almost all case there are two very important things to point out, one being they are military surplus so the demand comes from our military, not police. Second, the spending these precincts do on these types of weapons/vehicles make up a tiny portion of their overall budgets.
“Given that the vast majority of police spending (97 percent) is attributed to operational expenses, which consist primarily of salaries and benefits, any conversation about reducing police funding will necessarily result in a reduction of the number of officers employed.”

Lol, obviously not.
You must have missed the part where the article said 97% of police budgets go to operational expenses like payroll and pensions. Sounds like you’re cool with that getting cut. Probably where we disagree.

The idea is to shrink the amount of policing and give people better services that will help them. 80% of all arrests are for non violent low level crime, and personally I'm ok with not busting as many people for smoking a joint or speeding. That link also doesn't take into account money saved by reducing the load on our justice system. Again, less police does not mean total anarchy
Let's defund police, which in turns creates higher crime, which in turns creates more violent crime... OH LOOK MORE VIOLENCE NOW THAN WE HAD WITH A POLICE FORCE IN THE FIRST PLACE. ..... BUT HEY AT LEAST THE COPS WON'T KILL US WE'LL JUST KILL EACHOTHER
That's like blocking an oil pipeline which then forces people to move it via trucks and rail which creates more pollution. AHAHA BOY I LOVE PAYING MORE FOR MY FUEL DON'T YOU??!!!

Yeah because a lot of small towns main budget are the people working and the pensions they get. If cops lose their pensions it will be like every other union job in America that no one seemed to care about.

Police enforce the law, they don’t create it. “80% of arrests are for non-violent, low level crime”. Sounds like maybe those things shouldn’t be arrestable offenses? You’re literally making the argument that police doing their literal job is costing too much money. That’s not a problem with police, that’s a problem with the current laws in this country lol.

"Piza advised caution on drawing larger lessons from the study and suggested that layoffs don’t necessarily have to lead to higher crime levels if they are done in a more strategic way that allows departments to continue crime-control practices that work."
That quote is from your article, and it was weird they didn't actually link the study they were talking about which was the consequences of purely layoffs. Minneapolis had 100 cops quit and then defunded as a knee jerk reaction to social pressure. They didn't have a plan, and that was always going to go poorly.
Property crime has also gone down in the past year does that mean its proof defunding reduces crime?
