skierman"Biden is tightening regulations of buyers of "ghost guns" - homemade firearms that usually are assembled from parts and milled with a metal-cutting machine and often lack serial numbers used to trace them. It's legal to build a gun in a home or a workshop and there is no federal requirement for a background check. The goal is to "help stop the proliferation of these firearms," according to the White House."
"A second proposed rule, expected within 60 days, will tighten regulations on pistol-stabilizing braces, like the one used by the Boulder, Colorado, shooter in a rampage last month that left 10 dead. The rule will designate pistols used with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles, which require a federal license to own and are subject to a more thorough application process and a $200 tax."
"The department also is publishing model legislation within 60 days that is intended to make it easier for states to adopt their own "red flag" laws. Such laws allow for individuals to petition a court to allow the police to confiscate weapons from a person deemed to be a danger to themselves or others."
"The department also will begin to provide more data on firearms trafficking, starting with a new comprehensive report on the issue. The administration says that hasn't been done in more than two decades."
Oh no, common sense gun regulations that will not impact the right to bear arms, handing more power to the states and collecting data!!!
THE FUCKING HORROR! SO FUCKING INSANE!!!
pissnu_skisYeah all that shit is ridiculous
like let me own whatever I want and leave me alone
eheathI bet you don't even own a gun.
pissnu_skisLmao I live in Wisconsin I’ve got a safe full of em in my basement
eheath*Your parents have a safe full in your basement.
BiffbarfSick, a thread more people debating 'common sense' legislation without understanding current legislation.
Requiring braces to be an NFA item for pistols and 'tightening restrictions of ghost guns' wouldn't have stopped any of the recent shootings. But, go off keep trying to ban 'things' and keep wondering why it doesn't work.
skiermanNeither would they prevent law abiding, responsible citizens from owning a firearm, you fucking retard.
Young_pattyDawg if you’re upset that you’ll no longer be able to assemble or purchase an untraceable weapon then idk what to tell ya.
like, you know no one is buying ghost glocks for any legal reason... right?
Young_pattylike, you know no one is buying ghost glocks for any legal reason... right?
BiffbarfPlenty of mass murderers have been law abiding, responsible citizens before they you know, start
committing homicide. But I don't expect any valid points to get past your beady little eyes and into that wiry ginger skullet of yours.

"I CARE CUZ PHIL ROBERTSON AND THE NRA SAYZ SO!!!!"
Kid, you're fucking pathetic.
skierman"2.) NFA legislation is merely a poll tax on self defense."
"I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO OBTAIN A FIREARM. I SHOULD GET EM FOR FREE BECAUSE ITS A POLL TAX IF YOU CHARGE ME TO DEFEND MYSELF!!!"
HAHAHAHAHA, OMFG. You are next level fucking retarded.
Jerry.at.tricksY’all do realize the “stabilizer“ Biden is crying about is just a butt stock right? You can literally buy any AR buttstock and still put it on an AR pistol.
Craw_Daddylisten man, no one would dare violate the NFA. even mass shooters have standards.
pissnu_skisYeah all that shit is ridiculous
like let me own whatever I want and leave me alone
Biffbarf1.) The NRA can suck my cock.
2.) NFA legislation is merely a poll tax on self defense.
3.) This most current action if passed will turn millions of law abiding gun owners into felons if they don't pay the government a $200 tax stamp on objectss they already own. The punishment for not complying would be the same as if you owned unregistered full auto machine guns, grenades, mines, etc.
3.) I had to google phil robertson. Why you letting some duck dynasty dork live rent free in your head.
Young_pattyDawg if you’re upset that you’ll no longer be able to assemble or purchase an untraceable weapon then idk what to tell ya.

BiffbarfClassic skierman. You're balls deep in your 30's and can't form an arguement past caps lock and calling people retard, sad.
CrunnchyVanMangun control is a racist tactic to keep people of color and the poor from having full autonomy.
BrandoComandoGun violence is a problem in this country. It's a plain fact. And I'll admit that I'm generally in favor of the idea of background checks. From a perfect-world perspective, it makes sense to keep firearms away from dangerous individuals. But there's so much more nuance to the system than democrats want to admit. We need to change something, but this isn't the way.
The system is broken right now and these executive orders aren't going to do shit. If Biden's administration thinks that banning "ghost guns" and pistol braces is going to eliminate violence overnight, they're fools. This is a political tactic, not real change.
If reducing shootings is an actual priority, then our government needs to dedicate energy and resources to truly finding the root of the issue. There needs to be a discussion between both sides of the aisle to find a solution. We've consistently proven that doing nothing isn't going to change things. Tacking on bits of executive orders banning accessories and loopholes is a waste of time designed only to win votes.
Opinion time:
I think if this country spent the time to find the root cause of shootings, we would discover pretty quickly that mental health is the primary contributor to violence, rather than the tools used to execute that violence. I would argue that 99.9% of shooters have some kind of mental health issue. "Normal" people simply don't shoot each other. The mental health resources in America are pathetic and expensive. Maybe if there were more resources out there, we could give these unstable individuals the help they need without destroying gun access for the rest of us. Expanded mental health resources would benefit millions of other Americans too. At least that's how I see it
msgWait why

CrunnchyVanManhttps://yaliberty.org/news/gun-control-is-racist/
Basically this goes over how the KKK backed gun control to disarm black people
https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/media/29093/the-racist-origins-of-us-gun-control.pdf
This one gives some examples of bills and events related to gun control that negatively impact those in public housing
https://thehill.com/opinion/criminal-justice/456243-actually-gun-restrictions-will-target-the-black-community
this one talks about disproportionate firearm posession arrests in black communities
basically what ive gathered from these is that gun control favors those with power and authority, whereas it keeps them safe from worrying about uprising from the working class and black populations that they so often screw over
AndrewGravesSVGun control won't fix mass shootings agreed, although we could use some background checks and a waiting period to buy them. Gun culture in the US is so insane that if you say anything about regulating them then people fly off the handle thinking the second amendment is gone, its a slippery slope, and there will be oppressive government tyranny. Its stupid and this thread is an example of it.
There's this whole fantasy that the government will go "too far" and the masses will rise up to defeat it thanks to all their stockpiled guns. This ain't a movie though and the people fighting would quickly get fucked by the most well funded military in the world. No, you and your fucking paintball team with ars aren't going to defeat the us military with COD tactics lol
I agree that we've gotta get to the root cause and that mental health is central to it all. If we're going to expand mental health resources it seems like the best way forward is to classify it as healthcare. As far as I can see, only one side of the aisle has any plan to reform healthcare and make it more accessible/affordable.
AndrewGravesSVthe people fighting would quickly get fucked by the most well funded military in the world.
msgK so the first one, the KKK backed racial gun control. Guns for whites, no guns for blacks. Of course this type of gun control is racist. But that's not what gun control today does. It's meant to apply to everyone.
The second one is far too long for me to bother to read but the title reads "Laws Designed To Disarm Slaves, Freedmen, And African-Americans". Again, this type of gun control is selective...same point as above. I don't think gun control today explicitly targets people of colour??
The third article goes on about institutionalized racism. That's a problem with the system, not gun control.
Craw_DaddyDo you think that guns stamp their serial number into every shell casing they eject or something? guns aren't "traceable" unless you have the weapon in your hands to read the serial number and then go to the gun store to see who bought it. and guess what criminals do... if you said "file that shit off" then you'd be correct. oh, look at that. a metal file can render a gun "untraceable" in 10 seconds. Who knew...
Young_pattySettle down gun-bro, We all know how serial numbers work. I’m assuming you live out in the sticks but it’s a lot more common in urban areas for people to just ditch guns after a crime. If it’s a ghost then it doesn’t matter even if it’s found- which is the entire issue of them being “untraceable”. If someone steals your gun and ghosts it then you’ll likely never see it again- even if it’s used in a violent crime and recovered.
idk why you and others are advocating for people to be able to own these, there is literally no reason for any law abiding gun owner or civilian to own one other than so they can commit a crime with it. Like the law is suggesting we crack down on people found with them- it’s not targeting little Ricky and his dad building his first AR.
Like what, are y’all Fr keeping a ghost on your farm just to shoot raccoons and coyotes?
Why shouldn’t we crack down on people using these stolen or modified guns in crimes?
CrunnchyVanManthose are excellent points, but with America's tendency to swing against people of color I think gun control under a system that is known for institutionalized racism could get out of hand real quick
msgThis I’d partially agree with! There’s more power in the hands of institutionally racist people.
However IMO doesn’t mean we should sit back and do nothing about the very real gun issue at large by saying all gun control is racist
r00kieWhy do I not want the government knowing what firearms I have? Cause its non of their damn business.
