rob.jpgMy buddys dad is looking to pick up a new ski while the spring deals are on. We have it pretty much narrowed down to the QST 92 and the Tracer 98. The ski will mostly be used on east coast conditions, he loves moguls, and groomers but would also like to have some soft snow performance. He likes the look of both of those skis and is trying to narrow it down.
what should he pick?
also open to other suggestions (he wants something cool)
cheers
I would say that neither of those skis is what I would call, “cool.” But then again, skiing is cool so power to him. The Tracer 98 definitely floats better than the QST, and it’s also quicker edge to edge so it performs better in moguls. The QST, however, is more damp, so it’s more stable at speed and will chatter less. Either one would be good, but judging by what you said he wants to use it for, the Tracer will be a better fit.
As for other suggestions, the K2 Mindbender 90Ti would be a good mix of the two skis mentioned above. Not really a, “cool,” ski but it’s a great one for east coast conditions, offers a good mix of attributes and slots right between the QST and the Tracer.
