So, I was doing a few park laps with my mates today, and we were all at the top and one of my mates was amping himself up to try some spins (he's only tried them a few times). He dropped in and pulled it around, and it was a bit sloppy, but man I was stokeddd! I mean, I feel like I'm stoked for anyone who is progressing their own skill and faces their fears for a trick they're trying to learn. Anyways, some dickheads at the top were trashing him even though I was clearly stoked for my mate. They werent just trashing him though, they were trashing everyone who hit the jump. They would watch someone jump and say "that was terrible", and I would say "who cares man, they look stoked and they're having a good time", and they fucking replied "yeah, well they should try harder and be better". Anyways. I know there's just going to be people like that out there and ya just gotta ignore them, but it ticks me off because when people are intimidating asses like this it deters a lot of people from wanting to get into skiing park (or even just get into the sport in general), which I think is a shame. At the end of the day, just be stoked, there's no need to put others down for their own personal progression.
What are your thoughts on this sort of mentality? Have any of you experienced this when riding park (or anything)?
