Was gonna say this. My aunt has been road biking since like the 1700s and Oakley and other brands have offered similar frams for decades. Pit viper came out as kind of an ironic lifestyle brand.
Lol yeah I got S&W safety glasses from work because my foreman loves guns and we had an eye claim from Jack hammer shrapnel so he went out and bought his favorite shooting glasses for everyone as a safety precaution. Can’t hate on em though they have their time and place
Meh. All these styles are kinda douchey but they work. You just have to learn to embrace it. I just got a pair of Oakley Sutro's for touring and cycling and they are sick.
I literally own three pairs. I've been confronted by someone who called them "racist glasses", and I am really confused about how Pit Vipers became unironically a redneck thing.
Glad others feel the same. The pit viper brand peaked 5 years ago. Anytime I see anyone wearing them I just think abt how cringe they are. They aren’t cool at all

I go to a tech school for half of my school day and I kid you not, over 50% of the kids in the diesel program pull up in their rusted out early 2000's gm truck and strut on out in their pit vipers thinking they are the coolest thing to ever walk the earth.

I am officially done, I quit skiing with them last year, wore them when on my mountain bike for a while but they are uncomfortable as fuck, they pinch the shit out of my nose. And now that frat culture has taken them on I just cant justify them anymore.l

One of my highschool friends had a pair of vintage ray ban custom aviators, with real tortoiseshell on the arms and the wire above the bridge, he got them from his grandfather who had Texas oil money. He’d always wear them when he got drunk

The one time I dressed up like a pilot for Halloween with some real Texas Av’s the house party didn’t know what hit em.
I got pit vipers a few years ago when they were cheaper and there nice to have for spring skiing, but I can agree that there super cheaply made and kinda ugly.

Safety glasses are nice af for skiing in the rain and you get crazy peripheral viewing angles. I see why the aerialists do it. Not the best for skiing fast unless you get them really tight against your face to prevent wind in your eyes.

Arms in front is how you avoid looking like a jerry. Otherwise spot on.
I bought a pair of the cheaper ones a while back and just sold them to my sister. the actual lens was not that good and shitty compared to other nice glasses I've tried on. it's sad that the company is now being fueled by frat culture. I'm probably gonna pick up a pair of glasses (not pitvipers) any suggestions?

I like Sunski a lot recently. Affordable glasses with lots of styles. Build quality has been pretty good for sub-$100 glasses. And customer service is great in the one time I dealt with them. Best part is they're not owned by the megacorp Luxottica that owns just about every other brand out there.
Jemsfalse, i’m talkin like arms with poles straight up in front like a gaper or an unskilled skier
I guess you get a pass cause you ski on a pancake, but in technical terrain, you're supposed to reach for the pole plant. Try skiing bumps fast. Start with hands in front, reaching for the back side of the mogul. I promise as soon as you drop your arms you'll lose control. The same concept applies to naturally occurring technical terrain.
Jerries often look weird cause they're likely using long poles and don't even pole plant. Not pole planting looks less weird when your poles are like 2 feet long.
