Difference of Cork, Flat, Misty, Bio, Rodeo,

(I believe Misty and bio are the same thing)

All of these are just off axis rotations. My understanding is a cork is maybe like 20° off axis from a pencil spin whereas a flat spin is like 70° (closer to 90 which would be a backflip). Misty/bio are set forward instead of backward, but what’s the difference from a flat and rodeo? Can someone explain in a more scientific way and not just how it looks?

Cork is composed of suberin, a hydrophobic substance. Because of its impermeable, buoyant, elastic, and fire retardant properties, it is used in a variety of products, the most common of which is wine stoppers.



Misty is a phenomenon caused by small droplets of water suspended in air. Physically, it is an example of a dispersion. It is most commonly seen where warm, moist air meets sudden cooling, such as in exhaled air in the winter, or when throwing water onto the hot stove of a sauna.



Bio is the study of living organisms, divided into many specialized fields that cover their morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and distribution.



Rodeo, sport involving a series of riding and roping contests derived from the working skills of the American cowboy as developed during the second half of the 19th century to support the open-range cattle industry in North America.

Cork 7: off axis d spin/ back full

Rodeo 7: backflip 360

Misty 7: off axis front full

Flat: off axis (“flatter”) Rodeo (think of how vinyl record spins in the turntable, that’s the axis your core is rotating in)

Bio: forward corking flat spin... looking at Henrik’s big air bio 12s/dub bios is a great example of this:

But what’s the difference from a backflip 360 and a back full? I get most now, misty seems just like a cork but set forward. Is a bio and misty the same thing?

Bio is “flatter” than misty ie your feet stay more to the side and less directly overhead. Misty is flippier still.



a back full is like a penciled gymnast flip + spin. Put that off axis (feet not over head) and that’s cork/dspin

rodeo is still a flippy backflip 360, but it’s on a different axis than cork. Pop, spot, and rotation is all different. Rodeo you look more back uphill and roll off your outside edges. Back full and rodeo are both 360 backflips, one is penciled and one is off to the side. As the sport and style progressed ppl wanted to go “flatter” ie feet to the side not overhead

back full is aerials. Google it. Straight inverted. Rodeo is over the shoulder. Check out Anthony boronowski in propaganda for a classical ‘backflip to 360’ style rodeo.

Dspin is not not the same as cork. Cork you stay horizontal, d spin is much more flippy, but not as flippy as a back full.

Seriously, watch my examples. It’s a lot easier to see the true axis in older clips before people started getting funky with it.

Bio and misty are are very different. Bio is forwards cork. Misty is front flip 360.

On a flatspin your feet won’t go higher than your head and you will stay flat in the air, a rodeo is more inverted like a backie. Same thing misty bio. Bio not fully inverted but a misty is

On jumps, the Flat 3 that you see isn't the same rotation as a proper flat spin. That is why it is called a Wack Flip. It is basically a Rodeo 3 or off axis backflip.

Ok so basically to start a cork 7 is just a 720 where you drop your shoulder and go off axis or a less flippy backflip 360 ig,
Flat's/Rodeo's really same thing except flat is usually more flippy kinda rodeo's off to side... the axis is similiar to something inbetween lincoln and backflip and you can really learn these just by watching a bunch of people setting them
Misty's are just off axis foward sets where you throw one shoulder down and go over your back, a misty 5 is rlly jus a less flippy frontflip 180,
Bio's are in my opinion really foward set rodeos where you will bring your chest up so you wont flip over your back and more corky

Corks, Bios, and Flats are all spins. Misty and rodeo are flips. Flats are kinda a hybrid, it's like a flip rotation on a the plane that you normally spin.

What most people call a flat spin is actually a rodeo or a wackflip. Flatspins were primarily a pipe trick back in the day, due to the nature of how you take off in a pipe. Off a jump, a flat spin is a less flippy version of a rodeo. If your feet go over your head, it's not a flat spin. "Flatspin" has almost lost all meaning, as people have been improperly calling tricks flatspins for a long time now. This debate pops up all the time.

Yes bio is forward flatspin and misty is forward rodeo. Bio and flatspin are not fully inverted, but the misty and rodeo are fully inverted. And I know what you mean I’ll see a rodeo labeled as a flatspin so often lol
