Hi, Newschooolers.I`m japanese park/pow skier.
My english is so terrible but I answer any question as much as possible.
Let you know about japanese ski scene and cauture.
Is park frowned apon in Japan? Ik in America some people still think of us as dirty park rats. From what Ik Japan is a bit more conservative so I was wondering if it was like widely not excepted.
Are there lots of groms in the park or because of reason above^^ is there not?
The best japaw place is Niseko(Hokkaido) or Hakuba valley(Nagano), as you know.
But there are too famous and a little mixed.
My reccomendation is Nozawa onsen and Shiga kougen(both of Nagano).
Nozawa has so much fun terrain and pow in Yamabiko area.
If you like hotspring, you can use some free spring(called O-yu).
Shiga kougen is in the relatively highlands and you likely get light and fresh pow.
both place has good tree run area.
In more minor place, Seki onsen(Nigata) ,Natsuyu kougen(Aomori).
They have sooo deep snow every year.It isn't lost.
Second question, the best pow season is Mid January to late February.
It's not popular right now.
It was the most exiciting around 2010.
Now most popular style in freestyle is play all terrain.(I don't know that say in english...)
In All style, most popular is Kiso ski(means basic ski that has some predetermined form and paformance.)
Imo it's litlle bit boring...

Do you also refer to terrain park skiiers as park rats?
It used to seem that, but now it's not.(effect of Pyeongchang olympic?)
But in japan, 70% of groms snowboarding.
Snowboarding has many flesh star,Ayumu Hirano,Yuki Kadono,etc...
In common people, skiing is thought to belong to the parent generation.
Young freeskiers growing up,but they are still too young.
Awanaitsumorino Genkidene.... I love Scandal SOOOO much especially Tomomi Ogawa. My dream is to come over to Japan and ski and go to a Scandal concert. Also it looks like mogul skiing is still pretty popular around most of the resorts there. I see lots of vids with purpose made mogul lines skied in. When you open your beautiful country up, I'll try to come over.
This is not a question, but some friends and I visited Japan last winter and skied Hakuba and Rusutsu. It was super sick, everyone we met was super nice and the country was beautiful.
CLQI suggest purchasing several kimonos and wear them around town before going to Japan to get used to them.
Gomenasai, my name is Ken-Sama.
I'm a 27 year old American Otaku (Anime fan for you gaijins). I draw Anime and Manga on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Japanese games. (Disgaea, Final Fantasy, Persona series)
I train with my Katana every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.
I speak Japanese fluently, both Kanji and the Osaka dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Japanese history and their bushido code, which I follow 100%
When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!
I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Do Oakley Asia fit goggles actually fit your face better or is it a marketing gimmick? I have honestly been curious about that since they came out with those years ago.

I can answer this! My girlfriend's parents immigrated to the states from the Philippines. She's a pretty solid snowboarder and the Asian fit goggles fit her face much better than Standard fit.
Her asian nose is much flatter than my white guy nose. Traditional glasses slide down her face since there isn't as much nose to hold onto. Standard fit goggles leave a gap between her nose bridge and the goggles. This means standard goggles fog up more easily and snow can sneak in right between her eyes. The Asian fit goggles have a less-pronounced nose arch and form a much better seal.
I believe the goggle frame is also a bit flatter to accommodate flatter face shapes, but it's a little less obvious compared to the nose bridge.
I found it really interesting actually how after WWII, Americans and Japanese have become obsessed with each other's culture. For instance, vintage Levis and Red Wing Boots are huge in Japan and Americans are obsessed with Japanese cars (JDM AF Bro!), Nintendo and Pokemon. Its kind of crazy how one of the most intense and violent struggles we have faced has brought a mutual respect and admiration for each other.

To be honest,I didn't except such a reaction.
