animatorAll the, “heel piece up the ass,” jokes aside, they’re good bindings with a proven history, which is why the binding has undergone such little changes in almost 30 years. I have some on some of my skis, and I also have Marker Griffons on some of my skis. Everyone skis differently and therefore has different experiences with their gear. So with that said, here’s my $0.02.
What you see more of, especially here on NS, is people shitting on Marker. Heel pieces break, the mounting plates break, etc etc. Personally, having skied Griffons for almost 10 years, I have had 0 issues mounting them, adjusting them, or skiing them. Note the emphasis on personally.
I also have experience mounting, adjusting, and skiing Pivots, from the 12 all the way up to the 18. I have multiple pairs of boots, many with different BSLs, so a binding like the Griffon is really nice because adjusting the forward pressure is super easy. It’s more work with the Pivot. Not much more, but still more. I’m lazy as hell, so I go the easiest route. Also, in all the time I’ve been skiing, one of my Pivot 14 heel pieces is the only hardgood equipment failure I have ever experienced. The two arms that keep the forward pressure broke, rendering the binding ineffective because they would move in a way that caused my boot not to fit in them, almost as if the boot was too small. They were brand new and had no reason to break. Since then, I have had no bad experiences.
They’re expensive, they’re a pain to adjust, and the brake sizes are wack. If you can get past that, they ski well, they’re durable, and they’re trendy (I guess, not sure what’s actually trendy these days). I personally would not pay retail for Pivots, given that in my experience, the extra money does not justify the difference between them and a Griffon.
TreegrabberThe year was 2020
it was a bluebird powder day, 18 fresh new inches. I was making good turns, enjoying the awesome snow. Then I saw it. A monster. A behemoth. A giant among men. There it was, in all of its glory; sperm whale cliff. I brushed off the mild longing, the tickling in my dick.
“No, it’s too big.” I thought to myself
but as i started to ski away, I turned and gave in,
hiking to the top. Standing there with my hair blowing in the wind, I tried to see the bottom. I looked closely. Suddenly I felt myself falling. I was violently pushed, careening toward the deep dark but kinda white ground. Just before I hit, I saw him, grinning, his yellow teeth contrasting the blue sky. It was Parker white. I realized just as my left pivot pierced my asshole.
