iFlipHUGE paragraph/wall of text = did not read.
WoFlowzBasically me eye infected me eye went blind me eye hurt me wanna know if anyone else that’s blind ski park. It’s only one eye tho :( I can’t legally be blind
gorbdawggybrenti am legally blind in one eye and ski park
just fine
just can’t ski switch over my left shoulder very well
however my condition i’ve been like this my whole life so i don’t have any depth perception issues or anything it’s just how i see normally is out of one eye
WoFlowzAh same I still have issues coming into jumps where I’ll feel like it’s to little speed then land flat on a jump I’ve hit 100times. Atleast it can make the rails seem shorter or taller
TnskiAlso, you might be able to get a new lense or something, it's a nothing operation, takes 5 minutes
WoFlowzThe lense would be nice as I already have vision issues but my whole cornea on top of the pupil is full thickness scar tissue :( docs can’t do anything but a cornea transplant which is expensive af, the doctor was straight with me and said it’s extremely painful and so is recovery. And there’s other issues the risks really out weigh the benefits considering it could also give me another infection cause the eye would have another cut in it for a few months.
TnskiSorry to hear that
WoFlowzThere’s some treatments in India and Korea and German and I think Sweden but their experimental and a long way from happening in the us. But I’m skiing and still have my eye so Just thankful
TnskiHave you thought of wearing an eye patch over that eye while you skiing? Just a thought
Piss_BoyThis story has terrified me to the point that I went and grabbed my safety glasses from the last pow day and set them next to my bike helmet
JAHpowI wanna see what your eyeball looks like
WoFlowzYeah well I mean it’s good and bad. It was super painful and completely ruined my whole spring summer and fall and I recovered “quick” and was lucky I didn’t loose my eye itself. I’d never wish that upon anyone. It’s just a recommendation and I’ve been trying to get more friends to use some glasses and even just people on the trail. But atleast maybe I can help prevent someone else from getting something similar
WoFlowzThere’s the scar tissue it’s gotten better where there wasn’t cuts or scrapes done by the doctors but it’s still not pleasant. Plus I can’t see still
JAHpowThat's gnarly. So you literally can't see partially from that eye, or is your vision just blocked from the scar tissue?
WoFlowzThe very edges I can make out shapes and stuff but not clearly the middle is just full of big blobs or color or light or dark depending on the light
JAHpowI'm no eye doctor, but it appears then that you can "see" with that eye. It's not like there's literally a part of your eye that isn't registering vision in the brain (although you probably wouldn't even know it, because it's not like you would "see" black or whatever, it's that there would be no vision at all. That's what's so fascinating with people that are completely blind. They don't walk around "seeing" black. It's that they don't "see" at all. Nothing is registering in the brain to see. (Also, I could be totally wrong with that, that's just what I've read on the interwebs))
