eheaththats not the issue here, the issue is that he is blaming politics (the whole situation) on him getting a bad score. hes playing the victim when he needs to put his head down and grind if he actually wants to go to the olympics *someday*.

eheathNah he won based on the judging format, everyone assumed it was about him complaining, but I was informed by one of the judges personally that was the case. I do enjoy the fodder of him getting a sympathy gold, but thats a completely different situation. This is some young kid who only appeals to young ppl (ns hates him) and hes honestly not even close to being a top slopestyle skier, yet. Like I said, he needs to shut up and keep skiing, let your skiing talk, dont bitch and moan on social media.

DesertStixFully understand your logic and I agree you don’t want it to get to a point where a judge is misscoring a rider because him and his dad don’t get along or some shit. Im not 100% sure how this comp circuit works but if the point is to score well and make the Olympic team, that’s much different than a rail jam or even FWT. I think making a national team is about more than just your trick bag.
That being said, I wasn’t advocating them getting scored lowly due to off-the-hill actions. I really think, if the underlying message is they aren’t welcome, the US ski team should just tell them that. Maybe they have and the message wasn’t received properly, who knows...

eheathTo me, its way different when athletes are vocal and it only really matters if there is an actual argument. Its fair to say you feel like your score was incorrect for the run you put down, but to instantly blast the judges saying they scored you lower because of politics is childish and the wrong move.

207Fuck these kids, bunch of crybabies who still haven’t owned up to their mistakes. The judges probably docked them because they all saw that the fagans didnt actually learn their lesson from their past problems. They deleted their instagram post acknowledging they used racial slurs and haven’t done anything in the public eye to make it seem like they learned their lesson and are apologetic for their behavior. My guess is the judges didn’t like the fact that they still haven’t owned up to their mistakes (probs because their weird parents are telling them it’s political bs and a part of cancel culture and not their own wrong doing) What the judges probably saw was a kid who he never owned up to his racist actions who is attempting to make it to the olympics the pinnacle of his sport. Imaging fagan making it to the olympics and everyone going “hey you see the MULTIPLE videos of fagan dropping the n bomb” like how are these kids still that stupid they think they can go to the olympics after using the hard r on social media multiple times, making a half ass apology and then deleting it after 20 mins. Sure doesn’t sound like they’ve learned their lesson. BLM.
TwigThese kids are clearly talented on skis regardless of what they are like as humans. But so is every other skier in the field these days. I have the (questionable) privilege of watching pretty much every run in every comp (finals at least) that goes down, and while that was a good run, it was nothing mindblowing for a day that looks like it had perfect conditions. I could very easily believe that there were 20 people in the field with better runs than that. However, he is also clearly not very bright because he appears to have finished 16th not 21st and doesn't understand how heats work.
I only watched the run once so I could have called this wrong but to me it seemed there were pretty clear 'deductions' even if you totally ignore how clean the run was and minor issues the judges pick out:
1. Rightside tricks: There were only two out of 6 and they were the two 'easiest' tricks of the run, a sw r2 cont. 2 and a forward rightside dub 12.
2. Grabs variation: Mute twice and tail. That isn't exactly pushing the boundaries and has clearly been something judges have been looking at for some time.
3. Rails: All three tricks were continuing spins and only the switch 4 was at all above the 'standard' tricks that everyone does in comps. They also judge feature by feature for world cups I believe
I don't love that skiing is judged like this, but if you do comps, you know that it is. If I called that run correctly, there were shortcomings. Again, if you ski comps you know this.
There is a lot of politics in skiing, but the one place that very rarely seems to actually be the case is judging. You can hate judging all you like, and people will always get pissed with the results when a homie or skier they like doesn't win. But from knowing them personally, there are a lot more judges who would say Henrik or Ferdi is their favorite skier than would say Andri or Goepper, and yet who wins most comps?
Of course, mistakes do get made. More often the criteria can be (and I would say ARE) flawed, but the judges themselves are very rarely to blame. I think there is roughly 0 chance that this score was based on anything other than there were better runs (the score number is and always will be, irrelevant). However, this kind of social media reaction seems very unlikely to endear the Fagans to whoever makes the final USASA selections...

LonelyLmao...believe it or not there are plenty of skiers who could put down an equivalent or better run. You probably just haven't heard of them. I mean...like... that walker shredz kid is already doing switch dubs and 12s and he's what...12-13 years old? There are plenty of uber-talented people, the Fagans are just loudmouths with a tik tok page that seems to give them a bloated sense of importance and fame when there are plenty of others who just fly under the radar.
