Easier than a newer one with fobs and shit I'm sure. Also newer cars can have connectivity that show location pretty easily. Not that the thief explicitly thought about any of it, they're usually kinda dumb.

My homie parked at the airport lot, locked his truck and had his keys with him and it was gone in under 2 hours. I will update with pics as soon as I get them.

If you use a truck for intended purposes (hauling heavy shit, logging, off road travel, ranching, farming, construction) it’s just gonna get beat up so why buy a 80k truck when it’s gonna depreciation in 30k value after 3 years.
For people who use a truck for work It’s better and cheaper (usually) to buy a older, more fixable, more spare parts available truck.

It also comes down to personal preference and ability to work on your vehicle. Some people have the money to buy brand new nice vehicles, but couldn’t figure out how to change a tire if there life depended on it.

But to give someone shit on buying an older truck because “new tucks are better” just makes seem your like your a rich asshat.

If I had to guess, if they're all from the same person (party) then theyre probably specifically targeting older vehicles. There are simple hacking devices that can remote unlock/start cars using the car remote as proxy if it's nearby. Almost all car models have had this fixed since 2014 but older vehicles are definitely susceptible.

My buddies car got jacked in tacoma or seatle a few years ago. Was 5 or 6 months before it showed up. Pretty sick he got it back though.

So the dude whos truck got stolen most likely just bought it and probably spent a lot of time, money and effort on trying to find a 2005 Dodge ram in such good condition. I guess its just a guess but seeing how OP saying it got temp plates, dude probably just got it after spending time trying to get a loan, setting up insurance up on it, and test driving it.

Most like he is a hard working stiff who's not sponsored by his parents so he doesn't want deal with leases or a big loan cause life is expensive. Now hes gonna have to spend time away from work, hopefully trying to find his truck or a new truck.

SO your not wrong that dude run down to a dealership, sign a lease (that most likely rapes him in the ass with no lube), and try to move on with his life.
But shit get expensive fast. How long can he pay that lease on his budget? Does he have to sacrifice lifestyle choices to pay for his new lease? Did the loan fuck his credit so any new loan puts him further behind financially?

As to your advice to "dude just go spend more money to fix your problems" is very rich asshole way of looking at things.

Im not sure. I'm thinking it prolly sucked though. Hell my camera and all my lenses and some other shit got stolen out of my car in Sacremento a few years back. Cops basicaly told me to get fucked. Was pretty stoked. Like hinestky fuck you. I get that you have bigger probeblems bu5 if you don't even prettend to care about some crimes fuck all of you for setting speed traps or pulling over randos trying to make that loot.

Not a camera guy anymore. Bought a gopro but since im not riding park very hard this season i haven't used it much. I miss being able to go shoot a jump for a while and get some shots.

Fuck theives and the giant hassle to even try and get your shit back. Hope said thief eats shit and your buddy gets his truck back.
