I've used that to fix a delam and it's absolutely bomber. I bet if you dipped your ski tips the rest of your ski would fail before the tips do.

Have a gentleman who brings his skis into my shop on the regular that wraps his tips with heavy-duty rubber fuel line, after splitting it in half long-ways. Seems bulky, but also seems effective, if that's what you're going for. Will try and get a photo next time he comes in.

For our demo skis we put tail caps on them to protect from jerries in lift lines, they're like 8 euro from a diy ski build supplier, see if you can find one in your region.

caps made from a tin can would be pretty easy though with some snips: cout out a section as thick as the ski tip with some wings either side of the tip curve top and bottom to fold over that you through rivet onto the ski.
