pinkcamo1000I see a lot of young guys just hiking the same tiny sticky flat tube all day trying to learn as many switch up combos as possible.
That's cool and they can ski however they want but it's terrible training for hitting street rails that are steep and you have to lean forward and be comfortable sliding on rails fast. In my experience even on a mellow 10 or 12 stair rail you're moving pretty quick when you get to the bottom.
Learn to do rails fast kids, nobody cares that you did 3 switch ups on a 10 foot flat tube 6 inches off the ground
armchair_skierchange my mind:
claiming a trick on a fat tube is like claiming a trick to resi/airbag

WoFlowzNever thought of it this way but I agree especially when it’s like 2ft wide and dug in so it’s like 6inches off the ground
sams15its more like a box that has mad coping
TOAST.I think the resi comparison is good not the airbag since you cant ride away.
Anyway, I love my tubes, frick doing tricks on single barrels.
jompcockHot take?: Boxes are harder than tubes and most rails, at least for swaps and spins out.

Dan-ManThe thing about urban is, it is about as accessible as wake boarding. the amount of effort it takes to find, setup, and actually do a urban grinding pole is extensive. I mean, u need snow, a ramp, probably a truck to transport the ramp, a filmer, shitty skis you don't care about fuking up, and a spot where u can be at for 3 hours without offending anyone.
WoFlowzI meant urban style rail I shoulda specified this but yes I also have been trying small urban things gotta find some beater skis tho I wanna film some stuff next year and not just hit picnic tables and benches. But yeah these kids that talk shit can’t do either. Idk is hitting “urban” style rails harder? That’s just the way I learned to hit park rails
-Dan“Urban” as in not ride on? Yeah ride on features are for like the beginner parks or the huge kickers on to rails you see at park city lol.
For me, committing to learning to slide rails that weren’t ride on was frustrating. Like regressing from being able to do some tricks to not even being able to get on rails. So I imagine if you stay on that path and have a bag of tricks then it’s even worse of a feeling when you can’t get to the end of a down rail. They will take the time to learn eventually
WoFlowzThat does make sense why they give me crap for just skiing differently and being able to hit “urban” or non ride in rails. Ik it can’t feel good to be able to super fed a tube but not be able to hit a flat bar cause It’s not ride on.

freestyler540Here a few reasons:
- You have to build your setup. Kids these days cant even shovel a walking path before they are exhausted
- Crashing really hurts... and you will crash at least once a session
- You wreck your gear and some kids dont have funding to replace gear.
- No time / no friends. Its tough to get people together to do urban and build a cool session. Sessionning alone kinda suck
