Like like we are going to get hit hard this weekend. 2'-3' in the mountains, 2' in Denver and 1'-2' in Colorado Springs. This one storm should be a good one for sure.

It looks like the storm shifted West and is going to hit the resorts harder but Denver still should get about a foot. Unreal numbers for the mountains:

I pay it, it's a small yearly fee and it gets you loads of map features as well other features. I can also let all my friends use it on their phones. Many times it's helped me storm chase way more efficiently due to watching patterns/trends in forecasts.

People must think that there gonna be skiing endless pow and huckin mad cliffs. You guys will be lucky if your skiing anything but the groomer runs. Resorts typically go into panic mode when this happens and most likely a lot of shit is gonna get closed and won’t open until they know that some kid isn’t gonna get caught in a small slide off some main run.

There is some wisdom here. This is going to be an epic but also a cartographic dump with probable power outages, idiots getting stranded and areas along the Front Range completely grinding to a halt. I-70 will almost 100% be closed for some time with high avvy risk on the slopes near the road to mitigate. The resorts will be doing mitigation work the best they can but its still dangerous and even tree wells can kill which I am sure they are going to take into account. Realistically speaking it will probably be 3-4 days before they can catch up and open the terrain.

It looks like they pulled back a little on the snow totals which is actually a good thing. I would rather have 12'' to 15'' of pow that the resort can mange than 55" that would tank everything. The storm is hitting at a weird angle, Boulder and Estes Park are in the crosshairs with the I-70 mtns and Denver getting the flanks.

Its actually coming together in almost an ideal way. Boulder and I-70 corridor on the foothills are going to get slammed, I-70 will prob be shut down for the weekend, the resorts will get 10'' to 20'' of fresh and the MTN ops will have it cleared for avvy in a day or so. That means anyone who can head up on the weekday is going to have it all to themselves.

I got 20$ that i70 is gonna get closed west bound early Saturday or early Sunday meaning that for the folks comin back on Sunday it won’t be that bad, now I’m not saying it’s gonna be the normal but it’s prob only gonna be like 3-4

I mean tree wells are already there; I saw tons when I was skiing last month. But yeah I like your assessment. If anyone can get up to the mountain towns before the storm, they'll be in for a treat if the resorts are open. I70 is definitely gonna be locked down. I'd certainly expect snow immersion risk to be high too. Every time California or the pnw gets snow this deep you always hear about someone suffocating in the middle of a wide open run cuz they fall and the snow is too deep.

Be careful out there folks. Have a blast.

Be sure if you do want to stay to CALL NOW AND GET RESERVATIONS!!!!! Any time I-70 closes all the hotels book up and its a shit show. I got stuck on the wrong side of Eisenhower tunnel once and luckily we had some family visiting CO that had a room already because everywhere booked out literally within 20 min of the closing. It was a cluster fuck because it was my Sister in Law, her husband, their toddler and my Wife, my toddler and I all crammed into a double queen room.

Lol the hotel reception got so pissed from everyone calling they literally would answer with, "Hi, this is Mountain View Hotel... we dont have vacant room." then just hang up on me.

I loved listening to an episode of Level 20 (don't remember which one) where Denver had a huuuge blizzard that shut down a lot of stuff and pretty much the only people outside were street filmers like the Level 1 crew

Every conference call I’m on for 5 months from Nov-April it’s people whining when a storm is forecast. Every time I say “why did you move here. Did you not know where Denver was?” Or some variant of that. Their complaining pisses me off to no end. Share the stoke and enjoy the snow you weakling.

I remember back in 2006 Boulder got like 3 feet of snow. All the skiers went around campus and Chataqua hitting rails and building booters. It was cool to roll around and just run into 3-4 other dudes making a feature.

Depends where u reading. I'm not as familiar with CO but the sources I use are usually pretty good for skiing. This year they've been bad though overestimating I will agree. I usually check 3-4 weather sources (weather Channel, AccuWeather, onthesnow, local channels, etc) and average their totals which is usually accurate to around 75%. AccuWeather is pretty good imo. Here's some CO resorts and their totals look similar to before when I checked. The storm still has warnings for 2-4ft in locally higher amounts. Depends how well you know your resort but there's bound to be windward/leeward sides of the mountains and drifts that will be mega deep. Enjoy it folks. Gonna be sulking in the rain and would kill for an inch of snow to ski on

Wolf creek is claiming 15" already. I believe them and it's probably deeper in certain parts of the trees. Definitely a good target if you're looking for late week powder as it hangs out there forever
