Watch other edits and figure out how much of the run up and ride out they show. One of the big flow killers is having too much or not enough space in between clips. Also try to sync stuff to the music (but not everything)

use a variety of angles/focal lengths with b-roll strategically weaved in. Edits get stale quickly if it's the same type of shot over and over again
