Ski Tok helmet patrol commenters make me wanna self combust

Ski tok in general sooooo cringe, but I didn’t choose to be there it chose me, but the absolute losers who comment this stuff are so annoying.

I am big fan of helmets and the protection they offer, but if someone doesn’t want to wear one don’t force em. I like to wear helmets and I also like to not wear helmets. If it’s gonna be a chill day in the park and I know I’m not doing anything I’ll slam my membrane on, I won’t wear a helmet. On those days I’ll occasionally throw a flip or something, but I know I’m not gonna eat it. It’s all personal choice and the thing I find the funniest is the difference between the skate and ski community. If you don’t wear a helmet skating nobody gives a fuck and if you do also nobody gives a fuck for the most part depending where you’re skating. Plus even on skate tok there’s absolutely zero no helmet slander even tho in my opinion you’re far more likely to get brain damage skating.

people on the internet will always try to tell people what to do, whether its tiktok, instagram, facebook, newschoolers, reddit, etc the trade off of having the internet is these kinda posts, just ignore it and move on.

Tik Tok is cringe for everything, we agree there.

Not trying to argue with u about helmet or not helmet, cuz i agree, its everybodys personal choice, they can do what they want. But some comments on the internet telling other people to wear a helmet is far from forcing people to wear helmets.

As far as the skating v skiing brain damage debate. I have no evidence to support my take on it, but skiing to me seems way more likely for TBI for the average person because of the 1) increased speed, 2) larger features. Because of this, it makes sense the push for helmets from the community would be greater than for skating.

Yeah it gets pretty annoying but there is no reason not to wear a helmet. My buddy just got his life saved after he hit his head on a rail last week. Stay safe out there but you do you

Yeah force was definitely an over exaggeration there, but particularly in that post homie had some nice clips, but there was no love just all no helmet bashing. Footy contained some beautiful slushy weather too, not saying people shouldn’t wear a helmet when it’s slushy out, I personally do protect my noggin since if it’s slushy I’m hucking.

I cant stand helmet nazis.

Theres plenty of skiers out there who ski so far within their limits that helmets become unnecessary.

For alot of people helmets are a smart choice, including people who are pushing their limits in an icy park.

but if you are a very good skier and youre not planning on doing anything but cruising some pow runs with friends then you dont need a helmet.

if you are used to wearing a helmet then keep wearing it, because in general its a smart move.

but ppl who say “anybody who doesnt wear a helmet must be stupid” are usually saying this bc they would rather feel smart than feel like a fucking pussy.

Eh who cares. I’ll wear a brain bucket when I’m cruising bridger bowl so I don’t splatter my brains on a rock or tree but when I’m at my 200 ft home hill in MN I’ll never wear one unless I’m going far outside my comfort zone in the park.

Yea that’s kinda annoying but I’m 100% pro helmet all the time. I used to skate with no helmet but than I met one person with serious brain damage from long boarding and it totally flipped me. Besides putting a helmet on gives me more confidence and let’s me ski better no matter how risky I’m trying to ski.

Indeed a helmet wearer for the most part just a few days a month I’ll be say meh and take some chill no helmet laps. Also East Coast skier so my perspective might be a little different, if I skied out west I would definitely wear a helmet every time I skied.

I definitely agree about not always wearing it on the east coast. If it's gonna be like really warm and slushy on a day I'll leave the helmet behind for the day. I also live in North Carolina and my home mountain is fuckin Sugar MTN so idk how valid my opinion is

anyone see Alvin kamara snowboarding recently with no helmet? This really shocked me, one that he's allowed to ski or snowboard and two that he chose to do so with no helmet considering his contract.

Glad someone agrees, I live in Southern New Hampshire so not really much different from what you’re skiing maybe just a little colder overall. Parks are small and mountains are small so much easier to say “eh no helmet fo today” especially just lapping the same park you hit a couple days a week. Like if I go to an actual mountain like Carinthia or Loon fuck yeah I’m wearing I helmet since they actually have big stuff that I can actually go brain dead on.

I understand it’s a good thing and all but if I’m just spinning casual laps in the rope park the chances of me knocking my dome are super slim.

Lmao same I used to always bring my helmet and then leave it in the car everyday, or I’d put it on for pics or if I was doing a few runs with my dad or something, and I had my mom blocked on ig so she couldn’t see pics of me skiing in a hat. Yes, I know I’m stupid, yes I’ll prob end up as a vegetable one day, and yes I’m prob gonna get some downvotes but it’s just some kinda weird mental thing with me. I ski a million times better without and feel a lot more confident, which is the opposite of what makes any logical sense lol. It just feels way better. Oh well, like I said I’m pretty stupid so don’t be an idiot like me. I kinda treat my body/brain like shit anyways so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Bro anytime I fall, whether it’s just slip out on a small landing or a big slam, it’s ALWAYS with a helmet on. I think I’m just subconsciously more careful with my skiing when I’m just rocking a hat

I always wear one while skateboarding, ever since I saw a dude at the park slip out on the 5 stair we have, hit his head, then had a seizure because of it. Granted, that sort of reaction wouldn't happen to most people, but head injuries are gnarly and I do my best to avoid them. Slamming my head on ice or concrete just doesn't seem pleasant to me.

Although a couple of laps when it's 50 degrees and sunny out, I'll leave it behind and just cruise some groomers.
