Yooo looking for all your wisdom (again)! In the market for potentially 1 or 2 new pairs of skis. Currently looking to add (1) dedicated pow ski to be used inbounds and on a Heli / cat trip here and there; (2) pow touring ski to be used out of bounds on tours. Would not be opposed to combining 1 and 2 into one setup too. I have a pair of magic js unmounted here but thinking I may want something a little more versatile and definitely lighter on the touring side.
I’m 5’ 7” and 150 lbs. live in Colorado and mostly ski front range (a basin, copper, keystone) and Ajax / highlands. Before Covid I was making a few trips to BC every year to ski things like kicking horse / revy / Whistler. Would say I have a more playful style, I like to drop / spin off features - not hitting anything super big but starting to get tricks down off bigger features. I like landing / skiing switch a fair amount but also like a ski that can handle chop decently well. I usually get ~45 days in a year inbounds and ~10 to 15 touring days.
Current lineup:
- magnus 90 / 171cm / pivot 15s || park ski
- On3p Jeffrey 102 / 176 cm / pivot 15 || ski this most days
- moment pb&j / 172 cm / kingpin || touring ski
Any thoughts on some big boys to add? I’ve been thinking about billy goats just because they are more directional and I’ve got a bunch of more center mounted skis already / might be nice to add a ski I can drive a bit more. Jeffrey 116s looks sweet and if they’re anything like the 102s are probably money. Would it be worth it to try and go tour layup on either as my touring ski? Maybe bg tour and Jeffrey 116 for inbounds? Also been thinking of things like the JJ ul, chetler, wildcat / wildcat tour, deathwish tour.
Any help would be much appreciated!
