Yo, I have look pivot 18s that i got for a steal, but the break is way to big, is it easy to buy a replacement brake and change it out, how should I do it? should I bring it to a shop
I shocked my manager when I figured this out. So to take off the brakes you do not want, you need the binding off the ski with all the screws off, Then you remove the metal half moon next to the rubber half moon, and then you will have space to shimmy out the brakes your getting rid of. Now to put in the new brakes, you need to ziptie those two metal rods at the end of the spring, in the picture I attached. In order for everything to fit correctly, you shimmy in the new brakes, and the spring with the two metal rods ziptied then you replace the half moon, then put the screws back in to hold the all the pieces together, then you can cut the zip tie.

Can we get a video of this because as someone who’s been a tech for a few years now and have only changed brakes to e typical way, I am extremely interested

I don’t have a pair of unmounted pivots on hand but I can try to give you a better explanation if u want. Or u can wait till I’m back at the shop in a month or so

I can wait, I’m not in a rush to switch any but I am genuinely intrigued by your process
I forgot to mention too that with the zip tie you need two, one to hold those two arms together of the spring and then another zip tie that’s loops in the first zip tie to hold the spring in a compressed position so you can fit it between the brake plate and the heel plate.
Im also looking for a pivot brake if anyone has an extra kicking around (115mm)

Interesting, but why? Look doesn't sell individual brakes to my knowledge; they sell the whole baseplate/brake assembly. This looks like more work than just swapping the whole baseplate out. I guess if you've somehow managed to snap the baseplate this might be useful?

I did it because I bought the wrong brake size 115 and the shop I work at has primarily 95's so I just swapped mine with that
