r00kieHearing of much less people out of state pay makes me want to move even more. Its stupid here.
To give a story about Michigan drivers....
I was 14 driving the farm's john deer gator between one farm and our other one. It was like, 2 miles between farms. This was not just some old shitty gator. Fully street legal and it was completely legal for me to have that on the road as I was working a family farm.
I go to make a left-hand turn into the farm. I turn on the blinker and because I was such a square at the time I arm signal as well. Before I turn I look back and see an f-150 a ways behind me. I think nothing of it because the brake lights were on, I indicated, and I signaled. To boot it was also a no passing lane on a blind hill.
I start to turn and the last thing I hear is tires, not squealing, but just a chirp. Suddenly I'm up on two wheels spinning a 720 (still haven't done a bigger spin than that on skis). She saw my brake lights, sped up to 70 in a 55, tried to pass me in a no-passing zone, while I was turning, on a blind hill. I got super lucky that she hit the back corner and just spun me. If she had hit me in a square on tbone it would have killed me. Totaled her f-150, the gator, cuz its john deer, was fine outside of a big gouge along with the back driverside panel.
The best part about the whole thing was that she tried to sue us for damages, both emotional and physical. I have been driving since I was 14. I've only been in one accident, that one, and I have never gotten a point on my license. Thanks to people like her my auto insurance is nearly half the price of the value of my car every year.
