eheathNobody is blocking anyone's free speech, using homophobic slurs is against the rules of NS, which does not conform to the constitution as NS is a private company and mods can delete anything they want.
That being said, using homophobic slurs is immature, hurtful, unnecessary and anyone who argues they should be able to use one cause of "free speech" is just wrong, hate speech is not protected and not accepted by anyone who operates this website.

LonelyYou love to use the word censorship, but the fact that we even are having a discussion about it makes it hard for me to believe that censorship is running rampant on newschoolers. It's both a slippery slope fallacy and a strawman fallacy. No one on NS is part of the liberal elite trying to suppress speech.
This is not twitter, or a big tech monopoly where you could actually make that claim. This is a dead ski website that's trying to be welcoming to all. We want to see more people in our sport, so its within our best interest to get rid of negative shit that pushes people away.
There is a much greater benefit to having fewer members using slurs here than there is a disadvantage. If you want to explain how there is a benefit to it, I'm all ears. Using a slur is not political speech, if you think that it is, that probably says a lot about you as a person.
People love to act like the world is ending because they can't say slurs. They said the same thing when moderation got really tough on here in 2010. Our moderation is much laxer now, a decade later, than it was then. If it really never stops as you said how are we even having this conversation? Maybe because not allowing slurs on a ski forum is not the same as people getting executed in the streets for their political views.
Or would you rather the government decide how we run NS?
