How to stop stepping on my gotdam tails

Skiing w twin tips for the first time this season and the topsheets near the tails are all scratched up cuz I keep stepping on them. Instructor so I do a lot of uphill hiking. Any tips on how to stop stepping on the gotdam tails? I wanna eventually buy a new twinny setup in a few years but I dont wanna fuck up nice topsheets

How are you stepping on your skis?

Also, your topsheets are going to get scratched and chipped and beat up. Its part of the Patina of skiing.

Maybe try taking longer strides? I just wouldn’t worry about it. Your skis are gonna get scratched up anyways. It’s all part of the game.

Easy, just don't use your new ones to teach in.

Some other options:
Step out of your skis when hiking up hill
Wider duck walk
Side step up the hill
Stop caring about your topsheets

Get a wider stance. Probably used to skiing with legs close together on directional skis, but twins usually require a bit wider of a stance. I had that problem when I got my first real setup

You have to throw them hands and exaggerate like you’re bareknuckling Mike Tyson to make a bigger stride
