Stitches from sking

So on Friday I suffered a pretty nasty injury sking. Curious who else can relate. So I came off of a side hit when I landed back seat and my binding broke, after that my ski came off and I landed right on the edge of the ski, I sliced right threw my bibs, and thigh. 29 stitches later. I’m out for a bit but will be back to ski another day🤙 Let’s hear some injury stories.

Yooo finally some one that’s done something similar I flew off a catrack at night and landed on ice and just slapped onto my back and then bounced my skis popped off and my hand landed on 1. Cut through my glove onto my thumb. I ended up breaking my thumb in 2 spots and I needed stitches. Not nearly as bloody or gnarly looking. Hurt like a bitch. Can’t imagine what that felt like for you

That's insane, hope you heal up quick. I ejected at the beginning of the season on my new set of skis and grabbed my ski, brand new edges tore my jacket open but glad it wasn't any worse. Better off using my old skis for the 7th season straight with no edges lol

I had something very similar happen. I came off a rail a little sideways and my ski popped off. I fell on my ski and slid over it. My skis edge shredded my pants and thigh. I had a pretty good gash that needed stitched but it wasn't as gnarly as yours. Heal up homie!

I forgot that sharp edges exist. Some lady sent a stall feature as a jump to flat. Ski patrol was coming, stuck skis in the ground to X off spot so she didnt get hit. Friggin sliced and dice my palms. Cut my hands in two places, I work at ski resort, accident scene, some bleeding, don't wanna fucking help the next one I'm seeing.

Looks bad, hope it heals up quickly.

I sliced my kne open falling atop my skis, it probably could have used a few stiches but I didn't get it looked at. It healed up eventually.

i fell on my face going pretty freakin fast
i tried to lean into my detuned skis too hard and had to get 3 stitches in my mouth

this was the beginning of the season and I had never used skis that weren’t basically racing skis with sharp edges so i wasn’t expecting it lol

heal up soon OP thats gnarly as fuck

holy that ones big ! I had around the same on my left knee underneath the knee disk.

Landed switch , ski came off , boot with no ski started to sink into the snow and i naturally started kneel and as i kneeled into the floor the ski flipped up and i landed right on the edge. Knee popped open to the patela tendon like a new bag of crisps.

mom wasnt really thrilled as i was skipping school that day and it was her birthday haha....

I figured ski edges would ravage other people too; Back in the day I did this same thing off a cornice in BC/Garibaldi off Blackcomb. Thought it was a soft, untouched landing below, wound up being sheer ice, ski chattered off on the landing, I landed across the edge and cut in pretty much the exact same place and just into the muscle, and had three layers of internal stitches. Worse part was being way out in the BC and having to ski miles back with my buddy skiing switch in front of me yelling at me to stay with it, until we could finally get back to the base of the mountain, get some ski patrol help, and get to the ER in Whistler. Heal up man, that will be a nasty/fun scar to tell stories about for years to come.
