Nobody can deny that over the last 5-10 years this sport has blossomed. There are so many athletes that have taken “freeskiing” and made their own sub sport.
Hackel’s video was art this year. The music, the angles, the editing, the locations... but Hall will prolly win because he did arguably more difficult and complicated lines. Reality is these athletes both deserve to win for different reasons. I saw a take on this years real ski. The writer was basically saying that he thought Xgames kind of blew the casting for Real Ski this year. He thought there should be more true street skiers in real ski, like Forster Meeks and Cal Carlson.
well I got to thinking how other than super unknown and real ski there are very few big video events and they’re so important to the modern skiing scene. Sometimes skiing is just skiing but sometimes skiing can be way more. Especially in the modern scene where there are so many ways to use this sport as a creative outlet and a medium of art.
tl:dr video contests are so important to freeskiing and I think there should be more of them both internationally and regionally
