Sup y’all,

Thanks for having me to the community been loving it thus far. Wanted to plan a trip for this spring or next winter and was wondering how Squaw Valley is.


I have been out to Jacksonhole, Táos and up to Killington and Stowe. But wanted to check out Tahoe. I heard they have a sweet little park up near the top of the mountain (small features right in my ball park) with a short mini lift to continually rip the park. So wanted to check that out as well as the rest of the mountain and obviously the village as well.


Any suggestions on where to head I was looking to go to Utah or Cali this spring or next season to ride.

I haven't been to Tahoe in like 7-8 years but my possibly outdated advise is to check if Squaw still has the somewhat cheaper spring pass and spend a week shredding their park. It was fun to rip in the spring cuz the had a dedicated lift for the park and they had a pool you could hit up between laps. Such fun times. Also, Truckee skatepark is fun if you skate.

Hey man,

I lived in Tahoe for two years. Squaw is a great time. On heavy snow years, they will put their park on hold until spring. Their spring park is great but it’s usually not that small of features. If you want smaller features, my advice would be Northstar purely because they have so many features among many parks of different sizes.
But squaw is really fun. Like the person above me said, the hot tub and pool at the Top of the tram is pretty nice.

If you’re going to hit Squaw, I would suggest alpine meadows too. I preferred alpine when I had a SquawAlpine pass. It’s like a smaller Squaw with more of a chill vibe and all of the great skiing. Also, if you get the chance - check out sugar bowl. That is a fun resort.

Grew up skiing Tahoe. Squaw is great and a lot of variety in runs. Park specifically is always best in the spring.

Exactly what was mentioned before, Northstar has S/M/L park runs so more options in that department.

Usually Squaw has a sweet small/med feature park set up off the Belmont lift.

I went spring skiing a squaw 2 seasons ago and it was an extremely fun time. Their park was dope but they didn't really have small sized features so that's something to consider if that's what you want. The place truly is the spring skiing mecca though.

For smaller features I'd say Northstar is your move. Sidewinder is a super fun park and does full vista chair laps like their other parks. Also they always hsve park festures and have good variety.

I'd say boreal has cooler feature options and the laps there especially spring are sick.

Diamond peak has been building some fun parks recently and a pass is cheap. Squaw gets some good parks going but it depends on the ywar and really seems like the spring-late season spot.

Also trafficin tahoe gets nutty, especially to squaw.

Idk tahoe is a cool spot though there's a lot of different mountains so you have variety and can see if there's a better place to get a pass the next year. It's cool to get a pass to another mtn sometimes because some places are 400 ish early and thatll keep things fresh and give you options.

You gotta hit kirkwood sometimes.

Also as mentions there's plenty of skating to be had. Even if the weather sucks its usually dry in reno and there's a bunch of concrete. Also the skatehouse in southlake has an indoor bowl and mini ramp.

I would go to squaw for the mtn not the park.

This is sick dude, thank you for all the info. I think it was mentioned earlier too Northstar has solid S / M / L parks set up. I will definitely be looking to hit Northstar too.

I bet the lake and surrounding area is beautiful in the spring too, I will have to try and make this a spring trip man thank you for the insight.

On a good snow year Squaw will be open deep into spring /early summer and it's a blast. The village is chill, people are enjoying beers and sun, dogs are cruising around everywhere, and the vibe is way chill. I went up over Father's Day weekend two years ago and had a blast.

I moved and haven't been there this year so not sure how the snowpack is shaping up so far. Also not sure what they're doing with covid procedure at SquAwlpine.

Squaw is dope in springtime, but only if they have a decent season to where the snowpack lasts long enough.
