Function over Fashion?

Before you read, I 100% acknowledge that this is a stupid thread. But hey, I'm bored, so here we go

I skied pow on Monday. Alpental has the deepest snowpack in North America right now, mainly because of the last 2 storms. It’s been nuts.

I decided to try a couple things that I honestly haven’t done in years.

1 – Goggles over the helmet. My discoveries? Yeah, still hate it. Every time I would go to put my goggles up for a breather, I kept putting them right in chunks of snow that were on my helmet, like a moron. In came the fogging lenses. Never doing that again. Lol

2 – My wife got me these new GoreTex crab-claw style mittens that are designed to go over the cuff and not under. (You definitely could make them fit under your cuff with some effort)

My discoveries? Dude… legitimately think my hands were warmer because of the over-the-cuff design. GoreTex helps too. Also, convenience of being able to rip your glove off and have it dangle there because of the wrist attachment. I haven’t found a pair of under-the-cuff gloves that do that.

Anyways, these are my pointless opinions.

I’ve got gore tex over the cuff mittens. They’re great with my shell. They are annoying with my insulated jacket

Don’t like over the cuff mittens. Think it looks shit and annoying to put on.

goggles over the helmet is aaight. Depends on how you style it and what goggles

I agree, it’s rare but henrik made it look good in one of the salute segments

Got these oyuki mittens that are under the cuff, warm asf, and have a strap. Not to mention goretex as well. I think they are the sencho model? Got them for $90 two summers ago

I never really wore goggles my formative years of skiing (grew up skiing mostly small mtn park in MA) and wore sunglasses or nothing. Living in utah and doing more fast all mtn skiing, I have to wear goggles now, and I always go under the helmet. I hate it because it tends to give me a headache from the adjustment sliders and they tend to pull on my nose, but i just can't bring myself to put them over my helmet, it just feels so wrong

I put my gogs over my helmet after a 4 year park rat hiatus. Never going back. Over the helmet is way more comfortable, goggles stay on tighter, being able to flip the goggles up is super helpful, and my helmet and goggles stay where they're supposed to even after faceplants. [PERSONAL OPINION INCOMING] I used to think it looked cooler to have em under, but I was imagining how stupid it would seem in other sports. Like imagine MX racers tucking their goggles in. To each their own I suppose.

I still wear the googles under the helmet. It just seems normal now.... the other way looks so stupid. Also, I saw someone with Pontoons skiing the east coast lol wtf

Goggles under for me is more common and it gives me a style bonus. Plus is kinda dope skiing on other parts of the mountain and then seeing another guy w goggles under and then u make eye contact w each other and u both know that each of you rip.

Gloves that go over the cuff suck because they are annoying to get on. IMO a jacket with wrist cuffs u can put your thumbs thru with kincos over works best. ZERO snow gets in + super warm
