Brawny charger to round out quiver

I think I'm looking for a Blizzard Bodacious, but I'm not entirely sure if there's even brawnier options exist, maybe a Head Kore 117? And I have no clue what year, seems like there's no good documentation of what's what out there. It's hard to get my hands on something like Line, Armada, J Skis, etc, there's just no demos out there

Here's the current quiver:

Big & Powder
Blizzard Spur 192 Assym - So much fun but just can't charge big lines if they are cut up badly or cruded up
Blizzard Cochise 185 the old stiff ones - They charge but ski short and get overwhelmed by bigger lines

Park & Moguls
Atomic Snoop 18X?
Atomic Tweak 172

Race
Atomic GS11 Beta4
Atomic DH (215's) - yea they don't come out much, a run or two on desolate mornings


Recently Skied
Atomic Bent Chetler 120 - 192 - Fun, like the Spurs but likes shorter turns, not brawny though
Voelkl Katana 108 - 192 - Pretty good, but really seems to be a slightly more powder oriented Cochise, length was nice. Not brawny enough.
Voelkl Mantra M5 192 - Meh, the do everything just not well enough option
Stoekli Stormriders 95 - Frontside, bit disappointed I hadn't skied a Stormrider series for 10 years when they made a pretty capable twin tip.

Jesus dude you sound like a beast. But yea longest length of bodacious sounds like what you want or maybe dynastar pro rider, moment makes a huge commander no idea who has skied it? Idk the wren114 from on3p could be sick.

I can say pretty confidently nothing from line or j skis if you thought a 192 katana wasn’t chargy enough. Also definitely not the k2 mindbender 108ti which is billed as a charger but I find them super easy in a 186 and am a small dude.

Kore 117 is light and stiff which makes for a terrible combo in variable conditions IMO, it’s not a great ski if things are cut up. Wren 110 Pro could be gas, those fuckers have no speed limit. Nordica Enforcer Pro/Enforcer 115 Free is pretty burly too.... @anders_a is a big boy and he has more skis than I have bones in my body, he may have something for you. Armada Declivity X (Toph’s ski) could potentially work in a 192 as well

My 4frnt msp99 charge in crud and chop and love laying train tracks on the groomers. They do make a 107 I don’t know if they make them as long as you may need. There also not the widest, but the 99s atleast have a pretty big tip and have enough float for east coast crap

check out the 4frnt hoji. that ski is pretty much the definition of brawny charger. and with like a 112 waist it can still rip all around the mountain too, not too fat for when the soft snow is gone.

@NotEnoughSkiing you my want the volkl mantra 102, in 191cm. Its the only ski except for a FIS race GS I havent been able to fold shovels on. Its an easy 70mph+ on edge at max carve/edge angle ski. It also kills everything in its way.

Everybody talks about "no upper speed limit" but that thing really doesnt have one, it has a lower though, you need speed to make it fun.



on a + side, edge release is surpsiingly easy for a ski like that.



(it shares nothing with the mantra M5 which is a total meeeehhhh ski)



not sure where your from, but if your in norway I have quite a few skis to let you try out.

Moment Commander 108 is available in a 188cm and if you want to die, a 194cm! lol

Volkl Mantra 102 more versatile at a variety of speed ranges vs the Commander that will want more speed to come alive.

The Hoji is a great ski, but hardly "the definition of brawny charger". Especially for a dude who's looking for more ski than a Katana and a Cochise.

Yes, forgot about the Pro rider/MPro 105 and should be considered as it’s insanely stable and damp at speed.

not so brawny not so chargy? ;)



when you see blister bring out the 9.5 and 10s for shovels and such, you know its more a charger, + longer contact length, like M102 skis long for its shape

You could check out the Sego Cleaver comp 110. Haven’t skied it but i have a pair of Sego Prospect 112s in a 192. They're full rocker and they are still burliest skis I've been on (make my animas feel like pingy touring skis), I think thanks to all the rubber.
If the Cleaver Comp 110s have a good amount of camber, + metal and are even heavier than the prospects I can imagine they would have no speed limit.
Isaac Freeland has been skiing them on the FWT the past couple years.
I am 6'1 w a racing background btw

That clarification was super helpful. It seems Voelkl especially can't get out of it's own way naming skis. My buddy and I tried the M5 and were like wtf is this, it's a Solomon QST by any other name.

Norway sounds great! May just be inspiration for a trip, thanks!

191cm mantra 102's can be had CHEAP here in europe at least, sometimes like $300.350 for a $799? $899? msrp ski

because its to burly for most people and they are afraid of it. we are seeing the same tendency for 191cm katana 108, allthough that is less burly.

So my buddy found a '21 Bodacious tail of last year and bought it and we finally took it for a spin this weekend... oh baby. Makes the cochise feel like an overcooked noodle in comparison. Still looking for the Mantra 102 to demo based on recommendations. Does anyone have a sense for how the various Revolt's would compare? They seem to be easier to find.

Im just gonna put it out there that my friend who is 6'4 about 210 and an absolute monster of a skier still rides his pair of Faction 13s and they are unbendable planks of ash wood in the best possible way.

46 meter turn radius on the big boys.

dont know if anyone has said it yet in this thread but take a look at the Dynastar M-Pro Rider. 105 underfoot and the brawniest ski that i've ever seen. also made in a 192

Honestly hated my prospect 112s for the first few days. It was billed as a charger, but I kept having them flex. Confusing. Coming off some billygoats it was a strange feeling.

Then I figured out that I just need to let em run and let the dampness take care of everything. Holy hell they are fun in pow. Springy as hell when loaded in deep snow out of turns, but let em run and trust the dampness/ignore the tip chatter and they are honestly pretty damn good chargers. They are a great ski for deep turns in the morning and cut up crud in the afternoon.

That said, if its sub 8" day and Im charging, Ill always grab my Invictus 108tis before the prospect. Just too much rocker/too little edge for low snow days.

Sego makes really high quality and good sticks. I'll bet the Comps are beasts. When my Invictus blow up I am planning on switching to them.
