Ski length for 6'2" guys

vincenzmWhats up newschoolers,
i just got into park skiing recently, usually only skiing backcountry with some tricks here and there.
as stated i am 6'2" and i got a prototype pair of faction ct 2.0s in 178cm literally for free.
is it worth bothering to put some bindings on there and ride it until it breaks into pieces, or is it way too short?
should be a dedicated park ski for the rest of this season, would love to hear some thoughts.

-olivesi almost don't want to reply because i am definitely not a gear head. those are definitely on the shorter side but i feel like if you got them for free and are just trying to get into park they'd be just fine. might help you progress a little too. someone want to correct me?

SofaKingSickI forget, are those a stiff ski? A ski having a backbone can make a world of difference when they're ridden by someone who might want a longer ski

vincenzmas far as i know they stiffened them up quite a bit for this season. even tho this is a prototype model with no graphics on them, guessing from weighing as much as stated on their website and the base design they are 100% from this season. you really feel the extra titanal plate. compared to my roommates prodigy 3.0 and my ct4.0s they are very stiff. does this help with them being a little bit too short?

SofaKingSickyeah, that's great news because yeah a stiff ski makes a world of difference for a tall guy and can definitely make up for some "missing" length for sure, leverage wise

how would you rate your skill level? and how much do you weigh? if you're sick then yeah you're most likely looking for something more like 185cm but if you're novice or intermediate then you might want something a little shorter anyway. and regardless yes the skis being stiff is a factor for sure

vincenzmoh thats awesome, they are legit one of the stiffest skis i´ve owned so far, again having owned pretty much only powder skis with little to no metal in them it´s not that surprising haha

yeah i´d say my level is pretty advanced, quite so in powder and groomers, not so in the park. like dropping cliffs and sending some backies here and there. but i do suck at stuff like rails pretty hard, so yeah the shorter length might be kind of helpful in the beginning - not that i would have a choice haha

SofaKingSickoh okay so you're a good skier but a little bit of a noob in the park maybe. in my opinion that makes the length (and ski) great for you to do park, especially for free! i'd say unless you've got lots of disposable income then that's a freakin great setup for that use, really. i'd go ahead with it especially since the season is half over depending where you are

yeah NS is a sick place, lots of stupidity and nonsense (for good and for bad) but also a lot of really good information

NotEnoughSkiingI'm your height and ski everything from a 172cm park to a 235cm DH. Each ski has it's own distinct personality and length that works up and to the point that it just doesn't work for you.

For general park stuff your sweet spot is probably 172-188ish. If you are into comp style moguls it's a different ball of wax, you'll need to talk to those guys what they do these days, I'd guess high 170's low 180's though.

For front side/all mountain resort literally any size will do. For more aggressive powder or all mountain 185-200, you'll likely only find things top out around 192 generally.
