Are look pivots worth the hype?

If you want Pivots get a 15 or 18. The Jester is a fine binding, but if you think you want Pivots there's not much that will be the same.

The 15 and 18 have the all metal toe, which is superior to the plastic one on the 14. Also, the 15 and 18 are compatible with the CAST Freetour system if you want to do some touring, the 14 is not.

I have lots of Marker bindings and they're totally fine, I have some Pivot 15's on their way and I'm stoked.

I put 2021 marker jester pro 18s on my revolt 104, because mostly of color :p a 16 would do fine



Pivots have the cool factor and ski nice + can take abuse, but a $$$ and a pain to adjust, and very little adjustability

jesters can imho still take abuse. I have like 80% jesters (and a few griffon) vs 20% pivots.



There are no pivots that doesnt crash with the revolt 104 topsheets and look a bit out of place



For me its more what is the skiiing being used for, will I sell it or keep forever, and what matches the topsheet.

Glad to see someone agrees here, Pivots are trendy and they most definitely can take some hits, but like Anders said they’re a huge bitch to adjust compared to a Jester or Griffon, and you only have ~6mm or so. The Jester is just as durable I’ve found, I’ve actually broken 2 pairs of Pivots and have yet to break any Jesters...

I mean the adjustability of the heel piece, in order to accommodate different boot lengths. Jesters have about 20mm of movement, meaning you can potentially adjust them for a range of 3 boot sizes (like, 26.5, 27.5 and 28.5 will fit) without remounting the ski. There are obviously exceptions to this, depending on boot brand, size, and other things. With Pivots, you can usually adjust them about 1 size up or 1 size down, but it’s a huge pain to do so and many times it ends up being a remount. That being said, if you have 1 boot that you’re planning on sticking with, they’re good bindings. Expensive, but they’re good. After I broke 2 this season I don’t see myself buying any more but it could’ve been a multitude of reasons why mine broke, and not at all necessarily the bindings fault.

Pivots are great but the heel pieces are a meme. The brakes are a meme. You land switch hard and your brakes drag and break you gotta remove the whole ass heel piece. That said they ski very well, have great elasticity and the shortest mounting point which really lets your tails flex better than other bindings.

I'd look into attacks over markers. Attacks in my experience are more durable and cheaper than markers and ski excellently. Low stack height like pivots. Also don't skimp on sth2's. Bomber bindings and brakes are pretty much free and they have the smoothest toe release of any binding imo

I started mounting pivots with inserts now... because its so much easier to remove them (and CAST)

marker bindings during summer sale in europe, or black friday are stupid cheap, then again, attack 13 is like 69USD then as well..

Never broke a damn thing in jester bindings and they don’t release when they are not supposed to. Best bindig for me because of that. Never seen pivots that are NOT broken, also destroyed some by my self. So glad I tried jesters after look, totally set and forget bindings. My jester pros are 2012 models and still rocking!

I have attacks, jesters, griffins and pivots and totally agree with this. Love my pivots but I would but attacks on my park skis over pivots. Pivots ski better but the brakes suck. Also the Pivot 14s (and 12s) have better release in the toe than the 15s and 18s but the toe is plastic.

They’re good but I am a fan of the attacks. I just am struggling justifying the price lately. Haven’t tried the jesters in awhile. Had a pair when they first came out. I was just thinking “everyone shits on jesters here but so many pros ride them. They can’t be shit”. I think I will shoot for some jesters when the end of season sales start. Also, I agree with @anders_a about the bindings looking good with revolt 104

Pivots are great, ive had tyrolias in the past and found theyd always pre release even when everything was set up properly. Wouldnt recomend them at all. I havent had a prerelease ever with pivots, only thing i dont like about them is clicking in and out lol.
