JAHpowAlso, are there any woofers on here? I'm considering getting my wfr cert.
50KalDo it. Im a WFR. Especially if you have never received any medical training and looking to get some type of medical cert. I got it cause I work outside.
Also OP, if you become a EMT in a major city your gonna see a lot of fucked up shit but your gonna learn how save lives. But some will die. Sorry to be the one who tells you.
AbiHYoooo I’m a paramedic! It’s rad, I work for Gold Cross in Salt Lake, it would be pretty fun as an EMT but as a medic it’s not as great, getting ready to quit I think. Ski patrol honestly is a bomber option. Don’t work for AMR unless ya hate yourself. Check out some FD’s in your area, some of them take EMTs and train them from there! If ya have any questions feel free to DM me
Shower_BoySweet thanks for the advice I will definitely use it when I'm applying for jobs in the next couple months. I would love to move out West to do it but I don't think my finances would allow it. Gotta save all my money for applying to med school
galardogodEMT checking in here. I work a non traditional job currently doing covid testing and vaccinations . I am hoping to run or work as an MA in a clinic. I am also premed (probably doing PA school) .
Mtuhockey33Got my EMT in WI. Waste of time and money unless your plan on going to be a medic or use it in the ski industry.
EMT’s around here barely make $11/hr. Smaller municipalities or villages only pay $8.25/hr. I’m all for helping others but I don’t want to go through the trauma and stress for that kind of pay... during my class we had an instructor and medic of 10 years quit his job and quit teaching because of a call involving two children and an infant....
with that being said; You will learn a lot of useful information in that class that could one day save your life or someone else’s. Every two years you’re going to have to re-certify or take classes to keep your EMT otherwise it can lapse.

RimJobberAdvanced EMT here.
Ski Patrol the last five winters in Tahoe, and been fighting wildland fires in the summer on a Helitack crew that I'm the lead EMT and we also do SAR with a hoist.
Got my AEMT and have pretty much just tried to find the coolest things I can do with it.
