animatorWould a company want to support a skier who can show off their products with skill, rather than tik tok tho? I get what you’re saying and as far as marketing goes it makes sense but to me if I was in charge of who got free shit, it would be people who are actually out skiing and putting out content of them SKIING, not making cringe 30 second videos on a children’s platform
So since Atomic is the company that is seemingly sending her product lets us them as an example. Beau Wells is one of my favorite skiers. I think he has sick style, good trick selection and seems like an overall pretty cool dude. Deff someone that would make me think about buying a product he uses. He has 21K followers on Instagram compared to this girl's 50k on TikTok.
While yes, I do agree that TikTok videos and the stuff this girl posts are pretty cringe, her content clearly resonates with a larger audience and floating her product is a pretty damn good way for a company to get their items in front of potential customers. Just because you and I dont like it, doesnt mean that others dont, and the follower count/engagement numbers here kinda speak for themselves.
It totally sucks but the reality is that sales are a numbers game and an attractive girl posting fun dance-y videos with limited ski-content can slang just as many skis for a company as a legit team rider. I'm not saying I like it, or I agree with it, or I think its a totally fool-proof strategy, but I think people saying "OMG why would they send her product, she's not even good?" are pretty damn naive.
(I DO think this is an important reason to support "core" companies who reinvest back into the actual freeski community where they can.)
