Dead center vs 1 cm behind dead center

I feel like you kinda answered your own questions in this post, but ya center vs -1cm isn't a whole lot of difference. I have a few pairs of skis, mostly at -1cm and one pair at dead center. I will say if I'm going to be learning a jump or butter trick or spinning onto a rail, I like the dead center skis for the balance they give me and extra leverage over the tips of the skis. However, 90% of the time I fuck around on skis at -1cm because I really don't need to be at center all the time and -1cm matches up better with the sidecut of the ski making carving and everything else feel smoother

Cool. Yeah ive never had trouble spinning or skiing switch at -1 but i was curious if i was missing out by never trying dc. Even in pow i liked it at -1 because you just kind of slice through the powder.

Honestly, where I’m at in terms of skiing and having center mounted my entire life up until the last 2 years, I would be very hard pressed to notice a big difference between dead center and -1. That being said, I don’t ski a whole lot of park anymore and don’t ski switch nearly as much as other people, but lots of twins nowadays have huge sweet spots, so a centimeter or two for the most part doesn’t generate a massive difference in feel to me

Yeah. I think the only area where dc or -1 would be suboptimal is in powder. But you just have to stay neutral weighted and accept slicing through the powder more as opposed to climbing up on top of the powder as would happen if your mount point/weight was furth back on the ski. If you try to lean back in pow to compensate for a center mount your quads are going to be in tears.

but for groomers i feel like dc or -1 or -2 cm is even better than a traditional mp once you get used to it. Not even considering switch
