except it's skiing with a much smaller audience so the likelihood of that happening was minuscule.

Funny Steve should be critical when this site has promoted his tongue-and-cheek content like They see me trollin, which very well could be attributed to keeping newschoolers as it is vs Thrasher. Personally, I like the silliness of this site and I'm glad it's our own unique platform.

Yeah it was more T Hall that was bashing it as far as I remember I think Steve was defending it more. T hall was also going off on andris YouTube but Steve was kinda defending it idk

The only people who fumbled at NS were the large corporations that own NS, the people at NS have always wanted and tried to do the coolest shit possible, but people stopped using NS and the younger crowd doesn't even know its a website. I'm not sure what steve's intent was, but he knows well that NS has been getting screwed over by their parent company(s) for a long time.

maybe I haven’t paid close enough attention but the majority of people that have written articles have been college-ish kids who simply liked writing and skiing and most of the time the articles had grammatical errors

So you're saying grammatical errors were the downfall of NS? Nobody cares about that shit, the forums was the heart and soul of the website. When NS was in its heyday, Schmuck was a full time writer and he put out a lot of good content and he's still heralded as an amazing journalist, the people i have worked with at TEN/ASN most notability Micah Abrams who used to be the editor of Freeze, also had tons of marketing and journalism experience.

NS isn't a failure from a revenue standpoint, but that being said NS spends basically nothing compared to other "action sports" brands, but that's how it stays profitable and operating. I think everyone is missing the bigger picture with NS, the internet changed and we lost 60% + of our audience from 2010-2016 and the parent company cuts NS' budget every year, NS didn't have any options, we tried a ton of stuff my first year at NS and nothing really picked up. We returned to what worked and my last couple years were full of fulfilling advert obligations and making park edits, and now I have a new job and nobody took my job at NS... can't really blame the people when the market is so niche and the parent company is cutting the budget every year.

lol no stop grasping at straws. freestyle skiing is just a niche inaccessible sport that doesn’t have any mainstream appeal. it’s not totally ns’s fault. the golden age has come and gone. there’s no money left in skiing and it’s just about impossible to revive. there are way too many cookie cutter academy kids that do stock tricks and there’s no money to support people making movies. it sucks but it’s reality

Idk how NS fumbled the bag exactly, it seems like the money gradually stopped being pumped in and freestyle skiing as a whole became less popular. I'd say its equally on the resorts and communities for not having as many rail jams and meetups, that keeps skiing going just as much as NS does.
