you could break down american society into 3 categories.
category 1 would be people like jeff bezos who are smart enough to make billions no matter how much they will ever be taxed by the democratic government they support.
Category 3 would be those who are always going to need/want a helping hand so they support democrats for this reason.
category 2 on the other hand is people who are smart enough to make money for themselves, but not smart enough to make enough money that they stop caring how much the government taxes their hard earned dollars.
The reality of trumps popularity and the fact that trumps supporters feel/act like victims is because they kind of are victims. For the government to say “you, jeff bezos, you get to spend your life on a 150 foot yacht and pass a fortune the size of a small countries gdp on to your family...
.... but you lot??!! No sir. You doctors, engineers, architects, you DONT get to earn enough money to kick back and relax like Mr. Bezos. You have to work hard your whole life, and you will get taxed at the same rate as bezos was even though he makes more money in a minute than you make in a year. You work until the day you die and you hardly get to pass any of it on to your family. “
The thing so many people liked about trump was that trump gave a voice to this middle category of americans, people who are excluded from the “life is good” rich boys club by democratic taxes.
i dont think its very easy to make the argument that this is fair to the middle of the road category 2 type americans. They are literally persecuted by democratic taxes. Democratic taxes allow people like bezos to become so rich and powerful it is almost funny, yet for doctors or engineers or plumbers or architects, who are the true workhorses of the economy, they simply are ridden into the ground as they try like hell to break into the jeff bezos “life is good” club.
its pretty cynical in my opinion to let only a certain class become rich and powerful while simply denying large masses of hard working people from being rewarded for their hard work.
its almost like the “are you tall enough to go on this ride” sign on a rollercoaster at a theme park. The american system basically sets the required height for this rollercoaster at 6 foot 10. People who are 6 feet tall are in reality plenty tall to ride this rollercoaster, but the rule says you must be 6 foot 10 or you cant ride.
People like jeff bezos in this scenario are literally like 9 feet tall. Even if you taxed ppl like bezos at 80% (ie raising the rollercoaster height requirement to 8 feet) bezos could still ride this Rollercoaster, akin to riding tens of billions of dollars into his bank every year.
Its weird that officially this country wouldnt be caught dead defending the notion that its ok to persecute people for not being smart enough.
and yet we do. Its called the liberal/democratic ideology.
the middle of the road intelligence/middle of the road earners in america are literally being persecuted for not being smart enough.
if you really want to eliminate the reality of some people in this world being luckier than others then youre going to have to tax ppl like bezos at 99.9%. We will see if bezos is still a democrat if the tax rate gets this high (high enough to kick him out of the “life is good” club) ((bro tip: he wont be!!)).
Part of life is accepting things arent always going to be fair. Not everybody can be brad pitt. Not everybody can be elon musk.
but for democratic taxes to literally be like “you sir, you get to go hang out in the “life is good” club with bezos and gates and zuckerburg and elon, but you sir, behind him, sorry, but you arent smart enough to be in that club, sorry, better luck next time!”... is so fucking cynical its disgusting.
Ok thats enough shitposting for tonight.
