that seemed to imply that wax helps make a ski base more durable.
Maybe filling a ski base with wax is like filling a tooth past tube full of toothpaste before you pound your fist into it? Obviously a toothpaste tube filled with toothpaste is going to absorb more impact energy, transferring it to the toothpaste (wax) than a toothpaste tube that has no toothpaste in it.
maybe this comparison is not valid but it seems pretty reasonable. Same thing could be said about pounding your fist into a wet sponge vs a dry sponge.
And yes i do realize this is another dolan ski base thread.
