Yall buckling up ski boots after taking them off?

i only don’t do it if i forget or i’m drunk or both. sometimes i leave em unbuckled i front of heater and then buckle after

Any time I space buckling them back up the boots feel like shit for the first 2-3 runs the next day I ski

Lies, when your drunk you fall asleep with boots on more often than you remove them and forget buckles.

Bootfitter here, I tell everyone to buckle them up after use unless they want to come back in the next year or two to buy new boots. The plastic wants to expand outwards, and if it’s allowed to, it will lose its stiffness when it is buckled down. Buckle your boots after you take them off, it makes a difference.

I buckle mine on the lowest rung which seems tight enough. Havent had problems with boots pu warping so it seems like itstight enough

After dropping $700 on boots and going in to the fitter a few times to get them to fit right, I'll do everything in my power to make them last. Peoe who leave their boots undone are psychos.

People who don’t buckle them after are the same people who walk around the base area with their buckles undone and straps dragging on the ground

I like my boots stiff, so it’s hard enough getting into a 130 flex shell without the risk of the plastic relaxing even slightly into a form that’s not right for skiing in.

I’d imagine if you left them overnight or for a few days, the difference is going to be minimal but if you leave them a long time they definitely splay out. I’ve seen it with rental boots left at the back of a cupboard and ones left on a heater for days.

Does this only apply to wrap shells? 3 piece shells rely on the tongue for stiffness, though their liners probably tend to benefit from the shells remaining buckled.

I buckle mine when I remember and always for travel. I pull my liners out to dry every night between ski days and leave the shells unbuckled.
