Will 184 be too short?

I’m looking at some j skis all play and love the reviews on them. But I’m nervous about the length. It seems like every ski under 100 mm is so short.

I am 6’3 200 and ski the rockys. I’ve wanted something with a lot of play and can still ski alright in park but mostly freestyle all mountain.

I mean it’s all preference but I tend to run my skis a lil longer.
like for reference I’m 5’8 and I run 180s
but I mean 184s would work fine if u want a shorter ski, but I would say to look at something more in the realm of like a 188

I think a bit too short. That’s the size I would want at 150 pounds. Maybe even longer. I think they will feel squirrly after landings when you are picking up speed. Personal preference tho.

really depends on the ski design, and type of ski, some 184 are 181-182, some on top of that has a ton of rocker/splay.



checkout the revolt 104, 188cm prodigy 2/3's they also come in 188-190, k2 reckoner 104 is actual 184, so could work since your fairly light. to change it up, adding fischer 102 FR in here. I have both 184 and 191, they have some umph to them.



at your height I wouldnt go 100% true center on a "184" thats for sure.

I love having a short ski to screw around on, but for all mountain, I prefer something in the 190 range. That said, for learning tricks, a shorter ski is definitely easier to pull around.

As a fellow 6' 3" skier who understands the pain of choosing a ski size, I would say they are too short. I am about 25 lbs lighter than you and think all plays would be too easy for me to overwhelm all mountain. If you want a 184 size ski I think something stiffer than the all play could definitely work without holding you back all-mountain though. Moment Wildcat 101, 108, Moment Deathwish, any On3p Jeffery to name a few. I think all of anders_a recommendations are really good too.

Fr I hate it, all sub 100mm skis rarely come in something bigger than 185 for park skis.

I think I’m going with revolt 104 in 188 just cause of the stiffness too, also SFB look cool too

I had some 184 allplays a while ago, at 5'8. They didn't feel very substantial if you know what I mean. Not super heavy or damp, they felt really quick and light. If you're worried about size id probably look for a different ski. A 186 or 191 Jeffrey or kartel will feel a lot more substantial just because of the weight and stiffer flex if you're looking for other options

Unless you are an unmitigated gangster 184 will be fine.
