What's your favorite ski bar? Could be on mountain, in a ski town, or just gives off a good ski vibe.
My two best buds and I want to open a ski themed bar in Minneapolis since--as far as we know from our minimal research--there really aren't any. We're 22-23 and poor right now so this is a very distant idea but a little inspiration never hurt anyone. Also if anyone steals this idea and opens a ski bar in MSP I will gladly support it.
The Slot at Squaw Valley is my favourite of all time... Freeze, Powder, and other ski magazine covers on the ceiling, old pros skis and boards on the wall, PBR always on tap, Fernet always being poured, ski movies always playing, and whenever a big event goes down, such as when the Pain McShlonkey was happening, it turns into the epicentre of debauchery. They have at least 4 different shot skis, maybe even a pint ski? fuck I dont know... they always have shit happening.
The place is super cramped, they dont serve food, they dont even have a fucking bathroom (go use the bathroom at a different bar), but they always have alcohol and sometimes unorganized illegal gambling? The place is fucking rad.
That said, in a post-covid world, outdoor euro-apres style is probably going to be preferred by some... in which case, go 3 mins away and youll find this scene at Le Chamois
Fucking party all the time, especially on a sunny spring weekend.
when its nuking out, you might want to just go inside for a pizza downstairs, and beer upstairs.

Honestly The Slot sounds like what inspired us (various different bars in Bozeman). I’ve always loved places with memorabilia covering every inch of wall, stickers galore, and ski movies on every TV. But knowing Minneapolis I could see some euro-aprés benefitting business...
Bar Zanshin is a great place to meet some locals if you’re ever in Sapporo. Pretty small place but they always have old ski movies playing and everyone is a freestyle skier. There’s 1000s of other bars and tons of good food in the area too

Can confirm. Thats a good one. That said, When Im in Sapporo, I always just go get beers from Phred at Beer Inn since that dude is the fucking best.
As for the Niseko scene, Bar Barumba and Wild Bills are my go-to spots for apres or post-work pissups.
Barumba is a lot like the slot bar above but a little less wild. That said, the alcohol intake gets a bit messy as they have some absolutely destructive in-house drinks that come in mega huge beer steins. Fucking painful for tomorrow but worth it? Still... the place is cramped as hell, has about as much space behind the bar as in front of it... always has some sick snow movie on, has a little pellet stove for warmth, and skis on the wall that have been signed by everyone in town. typical ski town haunt, but with its own twist.
Wild Bills on the other hand turns into a completely mad DJ party on the regular, and has pool and darts and ski movies and everything. Its a bit younger of a scene for me now, but still a fun place for hitting on english and australian girls who have no interest in you whatsoever *dont come to niseko if youre looking for a japanese waifu, baka gaijin*
