Been looking at some hot tent tipi's for extending weekend excursions. Anyone have experience using one in the winter, set up, weight, etc? Or is there a better alternative?
SkiingNinjaThreads. Just got an expedition bag and pulk for similar setup in Colorado BC. What stove are you looking at?
What's your pulk set up looking like? I ended up threading some cord to the front and attaching it to my spare climbing harness with biners and that worked fairly well for a few hut trips last year. Definitely helped to just rub some wax on the bottom of the sled.
Yeah I have a 15 degree bag with a sea to summit thermal liner, but definitely thinking I need to upgrade the bag, I have comfortably camped in 20 degree weather with the bag and liner, but thinking the MT winters will be a lil too harsh.
I like frame canvas tents for winter because breath better and frame styles give more room to move around. It just sucks they are so expensive.
I've used a snow trekker tent before and they are super burly. https://www.snowtrekkertents.com/canvas-tents/
