zakk21To build the jump use ply wood or anything like it, put 3 sheets to make like a |_| shape and fill it with snow. If the snow is light it will take a lot of packing and water.
KCoCMI would just use all snow prolly
zakk21It would just be easier and when the snow is packed enough you remove the sheets
CeleryBefore you think about hucking a backflip, make sure you can do them consistently on a trampoline, into water, etc. For the jump make sure you can get enough speed to get the airtime you need. I'd make the lip a little steeper than you might usually ride to help set the rotation.
2p2I can backflip on tramp, and can gainer off diver boards, is that enough to be ready to try one on skis?
ASAPCarterGo for it, worst that can happen is you under rotate, snap your neck, never ski again, and live the rest of your life as a vegetable.
jk but in all honesty you’ll prob be fine as long as you already have the muscle memory. When you’re building your own jump you can make the lip nice and steep so it kinda starts the rotation for you.

2p2Ok thanks, do you have any idea for how big I can build the jump?

SofaKingSickAwesome-- it feels just like a gainer except you have weight on your feet BUT the jump helps you set the flip unlike on a gainer
just make sure to POP and bring those hips around. It's all in the hips 🎵
idk what your backyard looks like but make it poppy. It doesn't have to be huge but in terms of backyard jumps, yeah make it as big as you reasonably can. Make the landing soft as possible so it's no big deal if you fall
KCoCMI would just use all snow prolly
2p2Here’s the jump I built, I am gunna add a little more. Is it big enough right now to flip on?

SofaKingSickBuild the lip up more and much steeper. You can totally do a backy on that jump but that ain't a beginner's backy jump at all right now. Build it way steeper and put a ton of chopped up snow on the landing and I'd say go for it if you're feeling it and truly can feel you got it
GeorgeMadisonI wouldn’t backy until you can at least 7. Obv many people do it before that but I just think it’s worth being super comfortable in the air and learning bigger spins first. I could do a 900 before I first learned to backflip and still almost landed on my head the first time. I would say if you go for it be aggressive in the air. I thought it would sort of just come around but don’t panic and stay tucked until your tips are clear.
SlowbroInspired by this thread I built a backyard jump and did a wack flip. Make your jump a lot bigger and kickier than mine please lol

2p2I ended up trying a backyflip tonight as a lot of people were doing them, I over rotated on both my attempts. What should I try to fix for next time?

SavageBiffMy ? When doing my first backie on skis, for someone who’s ultra comfortable with single and double flips on a trampoline, can backflip on foot, can spin 3,5 other various beginner maybe intermediate tricks, and butter skis, can eat shit like a pro too, do you guys find the skis are stopping your rotation, or is the inertia whipping your feet back under you? Wanna know what to expect, I feel first attempt coming soon...

SofaKingSickThe gear makes your feet way heavier than you're used to when you jump off shit but it's more than made up for by the fact that the jump gives you the flip. Imagine a gaper points it at a jump and takes off out of control, what will happen? They'll get sent into a backward fall. The jump almost wants you to do a backflip. Backies feel like a gainer with weight on your feet but without any of the technical difficulty of a gainer. You still POP - FLIP but it's way more natural and easy
