Bended_ToenailOh god he's back on the topic of ski bases
SofaKingSickI'm pretty sure (not certain) that base material plastic doesn't absorb water and regardless, that's not the concern
a dry base just means a base that has no wax. it looks dry because you're seeing tiny little scratches, the bigger they are the worse your skis slide of course. Think of ski wax as super important polish
skidemon22Not quite. The goal for skis bases is to be as hydrophobic as possible. Melting wax into them, which has varying degrees of hydrophobic properties itself, allows the base material to regain its own hydrophobic nature. When you wax a ski, you scrape and brush away the majority of the wax that you met. You don't want a layer of wax between the base material and the snow it is supposed to be gliding over. You DO want your bases to be as conditioned as possible.
This is to work in conjunction with the your bases' structure, which is etched into the plastic during a stone grind. These etchings create channels for water to be channeled out from underneath your skis (as you ski, the snow underfoot/ under the skis melts briefly from the pressure and friction).
Butterytips69Because he's so Based
r00kieI don't know what you are trying to say but you're wrong.
SofaKingSickWhat did I say that wasn't true?
DolansLebensraumI dont know whether you fuck chicks or dudes but ur a homosexual
skidemon22Don't think of ski wax as a polish, think of it as a conditioner, or even a lotion.
BradFiAusNzCoCaThat new username...wow.
richiiiLmao I love how people downvote the fuck out of Dolan even when he's asking a legitimate question
animatorDid Dolan change his username or am I just out of the loop
DolansLebensraumI googled it and apparently some polyethylene plastics can absorb water, but is that what ppl are talking about? Or is oxygen what you want to keep away from the bases?
Rotten_Trumpkins@DominatorJacques has a video regarding old bases and plastic oxidation. Makes sense without looking up the full science behind it. What happens when it dries out? Well watch the video.

BradFiAusNzCoCaYou obviously weren’t here for the armada S7 base thread lol
