Directional skis in park?

When I say directional skis, I’m referring to all moutin skis. such as the Line sick day, Faction dictator, and the K2 mind bender (all of these in 90mm waist [or around that with])

I would also like to know if all mountain skis are usually pretty flexible in the tails or tips.


I ask this because I am considering buying sick days or mindbenders.

It's definitely possible and it can be cool, but I would much rather ride a park ski all over the mountain than a directional ski in the park.

Ok. I also forgot to say that I’m a pretty average at park skiing and I just like the felling of carving and dead speed.

My mate uses his sickdays in the park and has no problem but you need to decide if you wanna make that decision of skiing them in the park because they might be fine but they arent ideal

Just get a directional twin. Kinda the best of both worlds and you'll be able to ski and land switch fine, and be able to carve pretty well

Hitting rails with skis with sharp edges will destroy your skis and carving on skis with dull edges sucks.


So we are at a crossroads in terms of what you can do on these skis. By park do you just mean booters with 0 to one flip or spin? If so yea they are totally fine but if you are gonna make a habit of it I would probably look for something with like a -6 mount and a bit more of a symmetrical shape.

I know it’s not totally comparable but I had some park skis when I was in NZ and ripped my edge out. So, given the circumstances, I found some legend pro rider 105s for cheap. They crushed it on side hits and drops but fuck - I could really feel the impact and tail engaging on proper park landings. It’s doable but I felt the impact for sure. Just something to think about.
