Thoughts on surface skis? I’m planning on buying the 2020 version The Give’r. I’ve heard the performance is great, but they tend to chip and break. I’m new to park but that’s where I’ll typically ride. Thoughts?
They used to have bad quality and durability but they kinda went underground for awhile and came back. Looks like they’ve fixed the issue (to an extent). Still China production based, as far as I remember. All park skis will fail at a certain point. The demands we put on skis in the park are unusual. However, if you’re new to park - you’ll be fine. Pretty light ski too. I say go for it.
I looked at some outsiders once that a guy I knew was selling (this was a couple of years ago). I passed on them and he pulls an “aw man. I actually overdrew my bank account recently and now I’m negative balance. I was going to use the money from selling these”

It’s how heavy the ski feels when you spin in the air and when you pivot/slash. Get on some heavy skis and some light skis and you will really notice a difference.

really? I’ve heard they’re soft... the give’r has a 3/10 stiffness rating.
The noses are suprisingly stiff based on what youd read online but im loving the givers(2020s) so far. They put tip protectors in the 2021s id aim for those for durabilitys sake.
I have the 2020 Give'rs in 174 and I don't have any complaints. They're super fun to ski everywhere and they can handle whatever you throw at them. The topsheet and edges are holding up great after around 20 days of park

Idk who you heard this from but they're super soft. Probably only a little bit stiffer than the blends. Keep in mind i'm 5'6" and 120lbs and its no problems to butter and press
