CrunnchyVanManI interned with Revision and all they gave me was a single ski with half the edge missing
animatorDid one for Majesty Skis a few years ago, all the people there were chill as fuck and I got a pair of skis instead of payment. If you’re just looking to do an internship to get free skis you should probably look into a different industry. If you’re genuinely interested in ski design, or marketing/sales then you can definitely get some good experience.
shred14Haha, I am actually interested in this industry with ski building. It’d just be nice to get a set at the end, especially because most skis now days are high budget.

animatorYeah most companies will opt to give you a pair rather than paying you, but again that’s not why you should be doing it 🤷♂️
Michigan_SucksProbably gonna be an unpopular opinion on NS, but you got fucking scammed.
animatorHow do you mean?
Michigan_SucksI don't know your exact situations so I'll make some assumptions. Let's assume a standard 3 month, 12 week, summer internship. For full time at federal minimum wage this would be $3,480 pretax. For part time 20 hours a week that's $1,740. Majesty skis have a price range of mid $500 at the lowest to about $1000 at the highest. The cost of manufacturing on that is way less. In my personal opinion, you sold your labor short in a dying industry. However, if it's your dream to do ski design more power to you, but compensation being only skis is bogus.

creightonHit up Hinterland Skis. You'll leave with some skis but Im going to make you make them yourself.
Julius_SteezerDid an internship with Faction about 5 years back. Was in London so I had to sleep on a mate’s sofa as the wage wouldn’t have covered rent. But was easily the best 12 weeks I’ve ever worked, I spent one day just budgeting for travel in the Finland seg in This Is Home and scoping street spots on google maps. I got enough money out of it to pretty much cover food / transport and got a free pair of CT2s, pants, jacket, poles and some pivots for £60. Was definitely a sick opportunity, especially given opportunities to work in the ski industry in the UK are pretty rare for obvious reasons.

shred14Has anyone done an internship at a ski company (maybe ON3P)? What was it like and did you get a set of skis at the end?
BradFiAusNzCoCaCircling back because you need to at least email @creighton about hinterland internship. I would be so stoked about a hinterland internship.
eheathYou're assuming the work he did was worth paying someone minimum wage to do. Most small business with interns do it because they need help with small odd jobs, ie this TV station i worked at had interns come in during live shows and help run cameras, turn the mics, up, etc cause the station only employed one person to run the show, its all they could afford.
I think you're underestimating how many ppl out there will work for basically nothing to get experience, I did it for years, you have to work for nothing sometimes 🤷♀️
