cakattackSo i got these new ft boots that have gripwalk soles. Apparently they are not compatable with my old bindings, does anyone know how much using the soles with non compatable binding will fuck you up? Im happy ordering the regular ones but they not gonna be here by the time i wanna ski this weekend.
DeebieSkeebiesim the same boat as you OP, only with Tecnicas. I got one pair of skis with GripWalk Pivot18s (Forza), another pair of skis w/ the White Pivots, and a pair of skis with STH2 16 WTRs. GripWalk soles or ISO 5355 or both?
Wyatt_05On some binding you cans clip in , but on some bindings you will come out at the toe too easy.
elm.A shop owner told me that WTR work fine with gripwalk. Skied STH16 WTR yesterday and felt fine. Let me know if that's wrong.
animatorLegally speaking shops shouldn’t be matching WTR and GripWalk but I’m sure it probably releases ok
elm.The shop owner gave me a wink and told me how stupid it is that both gripwalk and WTR exist. Ski industry needs to standardize more things.
animatorIt absolutely is stupid but again, from a legal standpoint they shouldn’t be doing it
animatorOh actually I lied, GripWalk soles can go in WTR bindings but WTR soles cannot go in GripWalk bindings.
elm.Do any new boots have WTR or have they all switched to gripwalk?
animatorNo WTR is dead now, new industry norm is GripWalk

cakattackhey so another quick question, i have like 2016 squires rn and at this point i might just say fuck it and buy some new tryolias or pivots cause i got some money saved up and i been meaning to upgrade for a while. Ill be mounting in pretty much the same center mount, is that gonna mess up the integrity of my skis or smthg. It will be the first remount.
CatdickBojanglesWhile we are on the subject of GripWalk how much better does it feel to walk in them vs flat soles? I have 1 pair of skis that don’t have GW compatible bindings and just put new soles on my FTs but the GripWalk soles just came in stock.
