idk but as skiers I feel we have a duty to do what we can to keep natural areas clean, and practice Leave no Trace. And to disrespect that and those who care stupid is just kinda fucked, especially for an industry leader
oh and also then he comes out with a video about how he faked all the shitty bullshit he did by editing himself out of the photos, and then back in basically making a mockery of the whole deal (technically tampering with evidence because he has cases against him and the photos were being used as evidence)

Mostly the incident with David Lesh shitting in a protected lake. Before that I don't really get it, he seems like a douche but none of the other stuff he did was really that crazy imo. Same here. Maybe they just make their logo bigger and more obvious but it doesn't seem to have lost popularity in the general public. Saga on the other hand seems to have lost a lot but thats a sad story with enough threads on it already.

This scales rapidly and nonlinearly with huge amounts of potential damage 'unlocked' with every social media post of somebody doing a fucked up thing, especially someone with a following.

fwiw I don't think Lesh really cares about being liked by ns/the broader freeski community anymore. he seems content with virtika being an instagram brand market towards regular folks. that being said, the general feeling is mutual. i don't really care about his brand anymore, the quality is mid, the styles aren't for me and it doesn't really sponsor any skiers I like

Certain ranges of Colorado have alpine plants and insects that are unique to that range you asshat. Apart from that life grown very slow in the alpine so a very measurable amount of damage could be done biodiversity wise from someone snowmobiling around on alpine plants. Part of having good values is being responsible in the outdoors and showing respect. I am not going to get all holyer than thou on someone for taking a shit while backpacking or poaching a closed area but I sure as fuck am not going to glorify it, or be happy about someone that does.
