Ski desecration

would it be yucky to put a pair of marker tours on some black crow daemons? i know it’ll be a heavy set up but it’s for in resort + side country/mellow backcountry so weight is not the hugest issue

plus my full tilts aren’t pin binding compatible

No not really if you get them mounted by a good shop they should be mountable twice maybe 3/4 times even plus marker tours are great bindings for just getting into touring. Hope this helps

You heard it here second, frame bindings suck. I don't just mean for skinning, but the brick like structure kills any and al flex under foot making the ski feel dead. Get a 50/50 boot with tech inserts and tech bindings, or just throw on alpine bindings.

I know that's probably not the advice you want to hear but there is a reason frame bindings are being phased out.

it already has alpine bindings mounted, I used the skis last season (tyrolia attacks)

i don’t want to have to buy another set of boots honestly. but if that’s what’s best maybe i’ll have to. in that case i would just invest in a touring ski with proper pin bindings

the other option is Daymakers which I personally prefer over the marker frame bindings

frame bindings are very yucky. the skis already have good alpine bindings so get daymakers

Yeah this is only half good advice, 95% of shops won’t mount a ski more than 3 times because of the sheer amount of holes that’ll be on the ski.

OP, if weight isn’t a huge deal I’d say go for it. Good first way to decide if you like touring or not (so many people drop thousands on a setup and try to put skins on on a windy day once and never touch the stuff again). You may not be in the same place on the ski with regards to mount point because of existing holes but wouldn’t be a horrible choice!

have heard mixed reviews on the daymakers, including that the stack height is too high/annoying?

im open to them as an option though

you will rarely be skiing down hill when you are in tour mode and if we are going to compare that they are way ahead of the markers. I got a lot more side to side slop with the markers in your mode

If you can find day makers I’d go for it, nothing is as good as a pin binding which is a sad reality but again, if you’re just getting in to it and you don’t mind the weight that could actually be your best option. Plus resell value is better than a frame binding, and you won’t have Swiss cheese skis from remounting a bunch of times either
