I think it has been almost 15 if not more years since I bought a brand new pair of skis, I finally caved when I got a chance to buy some brand new 2018 Edollos last month. It is not that I have not had new to me skis in the last 15 years, I actually get new to me gear all the time. I seek out deals that I would be crazy not to buy if that is something I want.

Though while on my searches I see some pretty outrageous prices for used gear. I see it everywhere including on here. People wanting over $300 for skis that have not only been drilled once, but sometime 2 or even 3 times. I hate to break it to you, but once that skis been drilled. It has easily lost 1/2 its value. If its been drilled twice, your guna be lucky if I'll even offer you $100. I don't care if its still in "good shape". If its been drilled 3 times.... fuck i don't even want it, good luck getting $40 bucks for that future snap. And edge damage geez. really?? I see people trying to sell skis with the edges ripped out or cracked 10+ times. guys quit trying to make money of your trash!! keep it for an urban ski, or give if to some kid who needs it.

O and if you've used a boot for a whole season, with ur stank ass feet in it day in day out, worn out the bottoms walking through the parking lot.. u really think that thing is now worth over $100?? i mean maybe if it is a high end pin boot, but jeez guys chill out.

the youth of today disgust me in so many ways.

As an employee at a shop that consigns used gear, I agree 110%. A couple of days ago, someone came in with a pair of beat to shit 2015 JJs. He wanted to sell them for 450$. I tried to explain to him that they were worth more like 200-300 and that they would never sell for 450$. He ended up agreeing with 350$, but I know they're never going to sell at that.

Boots are even worse. Kids come in with their parents and try to convince me that their Full Tilts are still worth 500$. The other day someone said "I should be able to sell them at about 500$ because they are full tilts and can be heat molded to anyone's foot." Like yeah Jerry, they can be heat molded, but not so much after your kid packed out the liners. It's honestly crazy. XC skis are even worse, but I'm not gonna get into that.

Just one example. I put another $30.00 for a grind only, then tuned them up. Sweet sticks that only like to carve.
Other than this I have been given 4 pairs of skis lately. Two pair Ficher's SL & GS, one pair Atomic GS FIS race skis used maybe twice in two events, and some Candied 4.0's because of a minor base scratch!

I am a lucky MF'er! Used skis are worth what a sucker will pay.

People are so fucking dumb, i wish it made me laugh. but it really just makes me sad. It's understandable that kids think there shit is gold, but when full on adults come in like that... has reality never bitten them in the ass?

Even brand spanking new skis that are a few seasons old.. well i don't care they're still in the plastic.. that was 2015 technology. You'd be luck to get 65% of what it retailed for the year it came out.

My local "Gear Exchange" "Consignment shot" is so Jerryattrick / Jerryfrieedd they won't take skis that don't have bindings! they told me the customers prefer skis with adjustable bindings!! lol!! there was a few pairs on the shelf with Pivots, they said weren't moving. decent price I might add, mostly for the pivots.

Those J skis you mentioned, without bindings, i'd value at under $200. I personally wouldn start them at $175 and hope they sold if they were mine.

Yeah, I've seen lots of gear exchange stores that have no idea about the gear they sell, and it makes my blood boil honestly. My shop sells new skis from a few brands and does the consignment stuff too.

The skis I mentioned were Armada JJ 2.0 from 2015 mounted with FKS. So a bit nicer than J skis from that era I think, but still not worth as much as the guy thought.


I've also observed the opposite, last month some lady came in hoping to sell her son's ON3Ps and was saying that she was hoping to get about 200$ for them. They were in almost perfect condition and had that year's Pivots on them. I almost just let it slide and would've bought them myself, but I told her that she could probably get about 500$ for them. They ended up selling for 450$, and I still consider that a deal for those skis.

I've noticed this especially in the norwegian used ski market. People are putting up used skis for 80% of their original price when used for an entire season and mounted twice. At least it makes it really easy to sell at a fair price, because people think it's a fantastic deal. I sold a cracked pair of skis within 1 hour of putting them out, for 180$.

demo bindings suck to people like us, but in the mind of a jerry slapping whatever the fuck size boot they want into the bindings without having to pay for a remount is worth more.

what is the hype on ON3P? they just look like square tipped skis to me, and honestly they don't look durable.

A good demo binding is the shizz! You can go way forward or rearward until you find your sweet!
Kinda like the Atomic VAR and race binders.
It's like this. If you don't "F" up your landings or technique, then you don't need to worry about frickin' DIN of 18 or a Look Piviot.
You probably don't even have your forward pressure correct etc.

without a doubt the most durable skis on the market. These bois are beefy. I’ve definitely seen some pairs (reasonably) snap, but other than that they are tanks. If you end up cracking the edges and have them pulling out, you can use these skis for a long ass time if you do a good enough job with epoxy.

i agree completely with op and yes it is legitimately irritating to see these chimpanzees who think just because a turd used to be a mcdonalds hamburger it should be worth 75% of what it was b4 you ate it.


How the fuck would someone think some beat up 5 yr old skis would sell for 350$?

I see it all the time on the web tho. Ppl try to sell their 3 yr old bones reds bearings for 10 dollars when they bought them new for 15 dollars. I mean how fucking stupid do you have to be to buy a completely fucked set of bearings for 10$ when u can get them new for a few dollars more?

i like shitting on these idiots who try selling their garbage by offering things like 17 cents for their used shit bearings or 32 cents for their worn down skate wheels that they are trying to sell for 30 bucks. serves them right imo.

Somebody made a thread about their on3ps completely eating shit just a few days ago. maybe they were a bad pair but if on3ps are really as durable as their reputation suggests there shouldnt be instances of new on3ps having their edges rip out in 2 weeks.

My local ski store had a pair of 2005 armada ar5s sitting on their wall for the same price of like 400$ all the way until like 2016 when i asked them if they knew the skis they were trying to sell to some yuppie for 400$ were 11 yrs old. They said they would look into it and the next time i visited the store they were gone. Total jackasses.



bindings i think are a better proposition used bc good bindings are built like stanley hammers and are bulletproof. I got the used gear shop in frisco co to pull some old look pivots off the skis they were mounted on and they sold them to me for like 35 bucks or something. Those guys were great. I feel bad about the guy who worked there who died. I think his parents were the owners. I dont remember his name but i met him once and he was a really nice guy.

anyways. The guys in that shop were based and they were very fair on pricing when you bought stuff. I hope they are still doing well.

There isn't. People who ski a shit ton in dicey conditions see amazing durability. What you see a lot hear is kids complaining because the under rotate and smash tip and tails. Or ones who don't detune their edges or maintain their edges properly when they get and edge crack from slamming rails too hard.

I gave my old pair of 166cm Lines to some kid and just had him pay shipping. He wanted to get into park skiing but didn't have the money to buy skis. I hope he gives them up to a beginner one day too.

Have a pair of skis from 3 years ago that have been drilled twice? Give them to someone newer to the sport that really want a pair of “twin tips”. Are your skis 1-2 years old and served you well? Sell them to that homie of yours that’s still on a pair of 2015 Thalls for $150, call it a day and go skiing.

Skiing park everyday at 185 lbs I break skis. On3p's and icelantic are the only skis that last me more than half a season. My first pair of kartels made it three seasons. Its not hype they make solid products. As for OP, yes i wholeheartedly agree people bring clapped ass skis in for consignment at the shop i work at and are surprised they cant get 100 less than retail for their shit.

I've never understood this either. So long as you're willing to wait till the spring or summer you can usually get last years skis brand new for 50% off. Brand new! As long as it's a major brand. Obviously you're not gonna get ON3P's or other boutique brands for that price, but the big guys Volkl, K2, Rossignol, Solomon, etc, you just keep an eye out, set a google price drop notification and you'll eventually get new skis for half off or very close to it. Meanwhile you look at people selling their skis online and they're asking for 75% MSRP on their 4 year old beat up skis. I've never understood it. I always sell my skis for cheap (mostly because I never paid full to begin with) and I've also given out a fair number of skis to people wanting to get into park.

Its so true, everyone thinks their shit is priceless and that they are getting ripped off on new stuff, I work in the bike industry in the summer and its just as bad, people think their $5000 bike from 5 years ago is still worth at least 75% of that, then wonder why it wont sell

yea, the one downtown. I told them I'd be happy with $35 for some old movement skis. they told me "They had to many skis as is, and really only wanted ones with bindings. I get it though, no one in Junktown really skis....

That place is a joke. I bought 100cm poles there once and they were really weird about it. Plus half their shit was clapped or dusty. I used to work like 100ft down the road from there so I would stop in during lunch.

yea man! that forum was the shit! I bought and sold a good amount of things on there. I got my K2 Hellbents traded to me for a pair of look P18s (Pivots) and got a few iPods. I think it was there were I learned reasonable pricing for skis etc.

I think it would still potentially do well if it was revived!

I was recently searching for skis on fb marketplace and found some 2017 k2 marksman. They looked in ok condition and had a pair of attack 13s on them, and he was selling the set for 300 which seemed perfectly fair. HOWEVER, these things had been drilled 3 TIMES already, and the excess holes weren’t even filled. You couldn’t fucking pay me to ski a pair of skis on their 4th mount, let alone 300 bucks

people really think their shit is gold no matter what

If there are any on3p skis that fall apart then on3p does not deserve to have the reputation of their skis being indestructible. Also it sounds like on3p doesnt even replace peoples skis that prematurely fall apart. Thats an even bigger reason why they dont deserve the indestructible reputation. If you want customers to think ur shit is indestructible then you shut up and replace every single pair of skis that prematurely fall apart on a skier who rides them. Otherwise shut the fuck up with your “indestrucable” shit.



a company that truly makes panzer tank tier skis will easily be able to replace all the customers broken skis for free bc there would be so few of them if the skis really were that durable.

if theres so many on3ps that fall apart on customers that on3p cant even fucking afford to replace them all then that tells you something.

Op I’m all for fair trade where no one is slighted. I think a lotta people over sell and a lot undersell and there are few honest on the mark prices.

There’s so many ways to look at it-

— you can compare what your selling vs new , if your $750 ski/binding combo is 1 season old, twenty rockless groomed runs just some minor topsheet scratching that’s def not a $100 set of planks, now if they’re 3 years old, kinda beat up but structurally ok, that’s a much less expensive buy
—-compare it to what’s on the retail market, problem here is an individual seller has no warranty backing them but what demo or used ski does?

—-some brands hold value, and some hold their quality, edges, bases , topsheet better than others just like vehicles. Just as a 10yr old Chevy or fords a rust bucket, a 15 year old Audi runs like new and loses less of a % of its resale value bc it still has more life to offer comparatively, so some frankenskis, Magnus etc are gonna sell for a lot more than some edollos.

—-some brands hold value, and some hold their quality, edges, bases , topsheet better than others just like vehicles. Just as a 10yr old Chevy or fords a rust bucket, a 15 year old Audi runs like new and loses less of a % of its resale value bc it still has more life to offer comparatively, so some frankenskis, Magnus etc are gonna sell for a lot more than some edollos.

I liked snow share in the beginning but I’m definitely noticing the pricing is getting out of control. It’s people just throwing Hail Marys trying to sell their shit for the absolute highest price. Very different vibes than about a month or two ago

If there are any on3p skis that fall apart then on3p does not deserve to have the reputation of their skis being indestructible. Also it sounds like on3p doesnt even replace peoples skis that prematurely fall apart. Thats an even bigger reason why they dont deserve the indestructible reputation. If you want customers to think ur shit is indestructible then you shut up and replace every single pair of skis that prematurely fall apart on a skier who rides them. Otherwise shut the fuck up with your “indestrucable” shit.



a company that truly makes panzer tank tier skis will easily be able to replace all the customers broken skis for free bc there would be so few of them if the skis really were that durable.

if theres so many on3ps that fall apart on customers that on3p cant even fucking afford to replace them all then that tells you something.

But at the same time I’m not happy about how I believe Germans, at least the auto industry, skimps on their low end models, all companies put less into a base model vehicle, but having owned multiple American/Japanese/American vehicles, I think Germany really cheats base models, and their emissions trickery cost me $ and engine problems across multiple models and many others to the point of class action suits for Audi/vw ,yet I still buy them, and will continue to, but we’re not talking who’s nice vs not or good vs evil.

They dont market their skis as indestructible, they have just gained a reputation for having better than average durability.

If you are hitting rails all the time, eventually your edges will pull out. All it takes is one hard impact or burr on a rail to create an edge crack. Based on experience I've had, edge durability is all luck.

Yeah I thought one of the rules was it had to be clearly under a competitive price (homie hookup) or he wouldn’t even bother reposting. That’s the opposite of a hook up lol. But he did move some equip of mine within literally 10 minutes of posting it so it’s useful as hell.

I went to a ski swap with my family a couple years ago and I was totally bitched at by a college chick because I said a pair of skis were way over priced. I don’t remember what they were but they were some sort of all mountain skis with the typical rental adjustable bindings marked at 600. I said they were more worth like 300 to my mom and when overheard the chick bitched at me and literally looked up the price for the skis not mounted and they were around 500 and she said the bindings added to the value. And they were used skis. People are clueless
