Getting over the fear of tall rails 30inches plus

Any advice with tall rails I can slide a good bit of them but it’s rly difficult to get around the mental barrier of swapping or spinning on when your 3ft plus off the ground on a metal bar. It doesn’t help my mtn doesn’t dig shit in. You can see under most of the rails. We’re talking if I sacked my feet wouldn’t touch the ground on a bit of these and I’m 5’9 almost 5’10

practice swaps like 2s out near the end of the rail so just tapping the end
speed is also really good

i almost wish my mountain had some high consequence features, theres only one sackable rail but its like 10 feet long. otherwise, just from experience with street spots id go faster than usual if your spinning onto a tall rail, especially down rails, its intimidating but you will land lower on the rail so less chance of catching tips/tails. for swaps its entirely just a mental barrier, i found backswaps easier since i could force myself to look uphill while on the rail and i could bring my feet around easily. front swaps are a bit of a different ball game since they are a very sackable trick, but i got over that fear by landing beside the rail with only my tips swapping and just working up from there until eventually could bring it fully on the rail. just remember that ur brain will fuck with you hard on tall rails, i just try to think of it as a small rail at the hill while im on it. good luck!

Speed is key and one thing that helps me if forgetting theres skis on my feet. Like I know that if I was in running shoes I can run up to any rail and hop onto it no problem. Don’t let the skis trip you out.

Start small. You honestly gotta just be super comfortable with swaps / spins on with features that aren’t as high consequence, especially skinny rails. Then you should have an easier time doing switch 2s onto a down staple or backswaps on a skinny high kink rail

Lol. That piece of advice has helped me personally and a lot of people I ride with. People tend to think they can not spin the same or jump as high with skis on but you pretty much can as long as you have a decent foundation for skiing
